Image retouching: How much value does it add?

As technology has changed, so too has property marketing.
On this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Juliet Helmke speaks with Brad Filliponi, co-founder of real estate photography retouching and editing service BoxBrownie.com, to delve into the changing world of property marketing. Brad shares how the Sunshine Coast business that operates all over the world got started 10 years ago, and what property shoppers now expect to see when perusing listings.
The duo examine the ethics surrounding image manipulation, and discuss what landlords and agents need to be mindful of when enhancing properties to look their best – at what point does it become better than reality?
They also cover some of the coming tech changes that could further shake up this field, which may impact property professionals’ future service offerings.

    Maximising value through design

    Maximising value through design

Interior design is one of the most essential – and underrated – trades in property investment.

In this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Phil Tarrant picks the brains of Jase Campbell, a top Sydney interior designer and the creator of Found by Jase Campbell.

The duo discuss how sensationalised media representations have distracted investors from what the bread and butter of interior design really is: utility, functionality, and adding long-term value.

They also reveal how smart design can spark an emotional connection with buyers and tenants, drawing them in for the long haul.

    Putting a price on property

    Putting a price on property

Is property valuation an art, a science, or both?
In this episode, host Phil Tarrant is joined by Finni Mortgages’ Eva Loisance and Gareth Woodham, a certified practising valuer from Augmen Consulting, to delve into the world of property valuation, discussing how investments can be assessed not only for their current market value but their future potential.
Gareth sheds light on how valuers come to a determination of a property’s worth. He explains the many tools that can be used in the process – from desktop valuations to comprehensive site visits – and what it means to settle on the “true value” of a property.
Eva and Gareth discuss why discrepancies might arise between the price a purchaser is willing to pay and what a bank says it is worth. The trio also examine the relationship between valuers and mortgage brokers, and how the industries have changed over the past two decades.

Great insights

Been listening for years. Really helpful tips, interesting guests and great hosts.

Hmmm… mixed feelings

This podcast feels like a paid platform for buyers agents to drum up business.

A disclaimer at the end says, “Guests appearing on this podcast may have a commercial relationship”, but I suspect all guests are paying to be interviewed.

Sure, the info is still good but its all very surface level.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years, but the latest episode with Lachlan Vidler from Atlas Property felt a bit icky and promotional. That guy reminds me of a politician.

I have no doubt Phil would only do business with honest businesses, but if he hasn’t used them himself, how can he guarantee they’re decent?
