But Don Henley has been coming after up and coming artists (and existing artists) for recent years on YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. trying to prevent his music from being covered. Where is all of this coming from, though? Did Don Henley just wake up one day and decide to be this driving force? The truth is, Don Henley is no stranger to the legal system. His exposure with the law goes back to 1980, of course, when he as arrested for supplying dr*gs to an underage girl - but the lawsuits just kept coming in his life after that. Whether he was the one suing someone else, or whether he was the one being sued...it seems as though Don Henley has lived most of his life involved in a lawsuit. 🎵🎵Rock and Roll Legend Alice Cooper is known for his twisted and deranged theatrical performance in combination with his hard rock and roll. Originally rejected in LA by record label after record label....he eventually lived up to (and far exceeded) his high school year book's "aspiration" of one day selling a million dollar record. Raised by a preacher, and the grandson of an evangelist, Alice Cooper has an eerie similarity (in my opinion) to Screamin' Jay Hawkins and the Screamin' Jay style song "I Put a Spell On You" (which is why I'm making that episode a sister episode to this one: links below). I can't help but wonder if Alice Cooper (aka Vincent Furnier) got some inspiration from Alan Freed & Jay Hawkins. While that part remains uncertain, one thing is for sure: Alice Cooper's unwavering faith in God healed him from his darkest hours and brought us the sickest most insane Alice Cooper we ever could have imagined. How this man is able to compartmentalize his show business with his faith and personal life is an inspiration to artists everywhere. He's more than a professional in the business, he's an icon, a pioneer, and a true staple. I've gone through hours and hours of Alice Cooper interviews and I wish I could insert them all into one Roots Rockumentary, but alas, there is simply not enough time! So I will link all of my favorite Alice Cooper conversations below. Many of these I have listened to in a hypnosis and some have brought me to tears. He is the epitome of loving father, husband, and true performer and I'm feeling a LITTLE BIT OF PRESSURE attempting to tell his story here. 🎵Before John Wines, aka The Old Grey Guitarist, auditioned for the TV Show America's Got Talent he had unintentionally gone viral on Tik Tok playing guitar covers of famous rock and roll guitarists. While many recognize him from Simon Cowell's show, over 1.4 million people around the world tune into his Tik Tok, Instagram, and YouTube every week to be hypnotized by his flawless playing. I had the honor of sitting down with John to dig up his roots. In this episode, we talk about John's childhood, how he was first exposed to music/his first guitar, all the way through meeting his wife and their Vegas Wedding!! 🎵This week's episode hasn't gone through the typical script-writing/editing process. This morning, I saw on Instagram a bass player I know posting about a curveball in his personal life. This bass player, named Steve Cook, was on a Roots Music History episode last year where we talked about a 619 year-old tree that stood on George Washington's property (and Betsy Ross, by the way, is said to have been buried under that tree along with several civil war soldiers....the tree's history is just incredible) and was being turned into GUITARS. This was such a cool story to me, I knew I wanted to cover it on Roots and it was one of the first stories I ever did here. Steve Cook was so helpful and knowledgeable. He came to my studio and BROUGHT THE GUITAR and even let me hold it! This was back when my channel only had maybe 2k subscribers, so I knew when I saw his video this morning about his wife's diagnosis I had to do something to help. To me, helping means roping in the Roots Music History family to shower him and his lovely wife with prayers, positivity and to share his go fund me fundraiser on my videos. 🎵Kurt Cobain, famous rock and roller from NIRVANA, was found on April 8th, 1994 of what was immediately deemed a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Immediately after his discovery, a young medical examiner signed a certificate of death before the toxicology report was released. Upon the release of the toxicology report - questions started to swarm the nation and Nirvana fans everywhere. Many may not know that his father, Hubert, inspired a large portion of his number one hit single 'Courtesy of the Red White and Blue'. His father died just months before the September 11, 2001 Attacks that rocked the United States of America. Hubert was the first person Toby thought of watching the news on that devastating day.
