Brilliant new talent
Anyone observing that the BBC’s relentless pursuit of political correctness was killing British comedy can breathe a sigh of relief that Josh Berry has bounced fully formed on to the comedy circuit. Young, an immensely gifted mimic, and a sharp and quick eye for satirising every new fashion in politics and culture ensure that Berry can resuscitate Britain’s great tradition of highly intelligent and entertaining mockery of public pomposity. Berry’s arrival ensures that English comedy is in good hands, and that its future is assured. He’s good looking, too, which always helps, and in that regard is a refreshing contrast to other recent claimants to the throne of English comedy. A couple of minor Insta posts suggest Berry may be a bit of a Mommy’s boy. But, you can’t have everything. Five stars from me.
