A key to the writing world

Having shelved my writing dreams in my late teens so I could live and learn about this crazy world more before I wrote, the time has come to try the dream on for size. But with age comes increasing imposter syndrome. Love listening to the tips and learning the writing lingo as well as the writers in residence and looking forward to diving into a course and attempting my first novel. Thanks Val & Al. Love your work 😊

300 episodes and your 300th review

Wow what a great podcast. Val and Al have been in my ears for years and being an isolated Outback SA writer they have given me a sense of understanding to the world of writing. I’ve learnt so much and am grateful this podcast exists. Well done ladies for reaching 300 episodes and all the best with it for years to come

You can do this!

About 2 years ago I was looking for a writing podcast. I searched “writing, Australia, writer, novel” and I couldn’t find anything! About a year after that I somehow stumbled onto the “so you want to be a writer podcast.” I was hooked and kicking myself I hadn’t just googled that earlier!

I had toyed with writing all my life but always found that I was telling myself that I didn’t know what I was doing, that I couldn’t possibly do it, I didn’t have any original ideas. Valerie’s words in one of the early podcasts I listened to struck the chord I needed - “you can do this!”(I paraphrase 😊) Now I’ve completed two courses and gotten so much out of them. I love the interviews in the podcasts and particularly listening to author’s methods and routines.

Thanks Val and Al. I hope to have my own authorial blazer one day.
