On this podcast we aim to strongly debate and explore the issues that divide us today more than ever before. We’ll rigorously defend and promote our ideas and values but always come back together for a wine by the end of the show - because that’s the Aussie way.

Unoriginal and uninspiring.

All 4 episodes have shocking audio quality. Some episodes have one presenter double the volume of the other making listening gruelling if not actually physically painful. For two millennials you’d think their grasp of the technology would be better. Putting aside how painful the content is, it’s still almost impossible to listen to properly without turning the volume up and down throughout the episode.

The swipe left or right concept is poorly executed - especially since some of the views that are swipe left, you wouldn’t consider left wing (they’re just Nick’s view) and equally for the swipe right - just Carrington’s view and not right wing theory. The latest episode even has Carrington unable to argue that his swipe right is valid given what he is proposing is clearly left policy in other states (try Qld with border lockdowns)

Surprisingly, Carrington isn’t actually the worst part of this podcast. Nick struggles to process his thoughts, often stutters or presents dead air while trying to think of something intelligent to say. At least Carrington tries to fill the silences but it’s usually with a nasty dig which just makes him appear bitchy - Nick’s retorts to that are equally bitchy though so at least he gets some back.

Often one or both of the presenters clearly don’t know what they are talking about at least a few times each episode - “I think”, “is that right?” etc. Feels more like two former boyfriends who at some stage in their relationship discovered they had different politics trying to still be friends by digging at each other’s politics and thinking it’s fun, rather than a dialogue or conversation with well informed commentators - which I think is what they are trying to achieve but failing to do so. They need to do a lot more research on the facts of each topic before heading for the microphone each week.

You’d think there’d be an improvement week after week, but sadly there isn’t. I had high hopes. Not that it’s getting worse (it started from a low base), but reading the other reviews (strangely all 5 star - hmmm), it seems to me that they have just encouraged friends to post good reviews to boost their ratings rather than seek honest feedback, which is clearly what they need. At least the vapid Sydney Gays podcast was funny and the guys didn’t take themselves seriously. Carrington and Nick obviously think they are up there with Paul Murray and Hamish Macdonald as top notch right and left wing commentators. Perhaps each should get not only some political but media coaching before revisiting this embarrassing attempt again.

Take this as constructive feedback boys, although I know at least one of you isn’t capable of receiving feedback without taking it as a personal affront.

I’m swiping OUT on this one. Life is too short.

UPDATE: podcast a predictable failure. Canned at 5 episodes. Seems as though those positive 5 star reviews were either planted or idiots...
