Bad Boys Special - Long Way to the Top with John Illsley (Dire Straits)
While The Bad Boys Podcast is on a break, enjoy this special interview with John Illsley from Dire Straits.
John is one of the founding members of the biggest rock band of the 80’s according to Classic Rock Magazine. Dire Straits has sold up to 120 million records, received Grammys, brit awards and MTV Awards and also helped fashion the MTV generation.
John Illsley, Bass Guitarist for Dire Straits was one of the four brothers and friends, I guess you could call them brothers in arms that decided to form a little band In 1977. They hit the UK rock scene with an album that would go on to launch the career of one of the most influential and important bands in the history of music.
Originally known as Cafe Racers, the band thankfully adopted the name Dire Straits and a tour with Talking Heads and a top 10 single Sultans of Swing started their journey.
Now a successful solo artist, multiple Brit and Grammy awards, John Illsley is now part of a new single called Think Loud a song to bring awareness to Parkinson’s Disease.
I am honoured to have John Illsley on this episode of Long Way to the Top.

Can’t wait to hear more!
Thank you guys
I’m loving this show so much, my psychologist actually recommended it to me for personal family stuff. You guys are great, I love the humour mixed with serious topics, thank you for sharing all of this.
Starting to loose me....
If you guys want to tackle complex topics without doing enough research, it stands out like the proverbial (drug counsellors now spreading misinformation) the conversation is wearing thin... stop trying to sound like mother Teresa and if you don’t know much about the topic being discussed- then don’t feel the need to have your say. Reminds me of myself having to do a presentation without doing any research. Shayne sounds like a nagging women every time he speaks
