    • Sport

The Blade Dive Episode 22 - We are joined by Joe Genovese. Originally from Northern Virginia, Genovese eventually relocated to Massanutten, Virginia and lived 3 miles from the base of the resort chairlifts. Enter Aaron Hawkins, the creator of the Terrain Park at Massanutten Resort.  From their Genovese’s interest in snowboarding began to explode and would eventually take him to the west coast, Superpark and eventually would return to the East Coast to Manage Seven Springs, Pennsylvania’s Terrain Park.

• Black listed from Massanutten as a kid,  Joe Genovese got an opportunity to join the snowmaking team via the Mountain Manager, Mike Mueller. Operating snowcats is a part of the job, so Genovese was literally thrown into a machine and has memories of his first blade dives.

•Joe Genovese has contributed to programs at Mountain High, June Mountain, Mt. Hood, Park City, Wintergreen & Seven Springs. Genovese will attest to the fact that creating an opportunity comes from developing a solid foundation for the skill sets that you’re passionate about.

Episode 22 is packed full of guest questions from previous guests, past & current snow industry contributors & 7th grade math teachers. Joe loves to laugh and that’s evident from our conversation. This carries over into his work philosophy of not taking things too seriously. We discuss what accessible snowboarding for future guests looks like, we talk about employee turnover and employee motivation beyond paychecks. We cover many memorable moments within Joe’s career including advice from Jeff Flood.

Enjoy...  and if you're in the machine, go ahead and TURN THE VOLUME UP!
