TGNG Podcast 050 - From Opposition to Understanding with Fish Gill
We all know how it feels to be in conflict with someone. We also know how it feels to want to be right, no matter the cost. Being able to see the power in letting go of righteousness, and becoming aware of our tendency to look for certainty is what we need, in order to have loving relationships.
A very warm welcome everyone, to this episode of The Good News Guide. A loving collection of conversations, stories, ideas, practices and tools from the greatest teachers, speakers, thought leaders, healers and humans on the planet.
In this episode, Lisa has a wonderfully heart centred, cautionary conversation on the need for congruence, with heart coach James ‘Fish’ Gill. ‘Fish’ is an Australian transformational facilitator and yoga teacher. He creates transformative social and emotional learning experiences that grow empathy, connection and understanding in the face of conflict, complexity and difficulty (or as he terms it, turn shit to gold).
They really dive into where conflict really lies in our relationships, what we’re really afraid of when we insist on being right.
It’s time to understand the black & white nature of our brains, and the need to listen to our heart more when it comes to our relationships. When we can understand that we hold, in our hearts, incongruent desires; then we can start to accept others and the idea that right & wrong are not ideals to strive for.
We don’t need to fix each other or assign blame. We can co-exist in love for each other, understanding one another and offering each other safety. All we yearn for is to be seen, heard and understood.
