    Episode #056 - "Knowing & Doing"

    Episode #056 - "Knowing & Doing"

In this episode, Shaun and I discuss the notions of ‘knowing’ and ‘doing.’One of my favourite quotes is by Morpheus from ‘The Matrix,’ when he said, “There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path.” We dive in depth as to what this means to each of us.We speak on how the factor of time influences the decisions that we make, and how our conscious action (or inaction) will determine the future that we experience.Ultimately, we are motivated by our beliefs and values which we feel our lives should embody, but until we are clear on what that represents, our actions are not directed from a foundation of clarity.Episode timestamps:1:25 – “I know, I know…”2:07 – If you know better, you can do better.3:45 – Doing in a non-physical way6:04 – Changing the paradigm of time7:15 – It’s all in the doing10:37 – Doing is not necessarily better than knowing11:38 – Presence and the present moment14:27 – To do in the moment is to just experience15:06 – The notion of enlightenment15:51 – Being in the moment, or not16:39 – The past and its utility18:24 – Why ‘now’ is important20:58 – Projecting into the future24:19 – Letting go and surrendering26:54 – Trying to control everything28:32 – Responsibility and sense of sovereignty30:18 – Choosing who you want to be33:39 – Knowing, but not doing35:42 – Priorities and your choices38:00 – Instinct vs. cognition42:16 – The difference between knowing and understanding45:08 – What we ‘should’ want48:07 – Gaining clarity for yourself50:10 – Grit, determination and resilienceLet us know your thoughts and if you have any questions or suggestions for us.As always, we ask that if you found any value from this discussion, we ask that you please share this episode with one friend, family member, loved one, or colleague, so they, too, have the opportunity to derive some value.Get in touch with us at thehustleandflowpodcast@gmail.com, and connect with us through the links below:ShaunInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/shaun_coopSubito Supplements: https://www.subitosupplements.comMixing It Up: https://www.instagram.com/mixingitup.coLeslieFinding Space: https://www.findingspace.coInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/findingspace.coFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/findingspace.coYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/findingspacecoFind out more about the True North Transformational Program: https://www.true-north.co

In December 2016, her busy lifestyle came to an abrupt halt when she was diagnosed with a rare soft-tissue cancer known as synovial sarcoma. It comforted her through eight months filled with five lengthy chemotherapy sessions, two radical leg surgeries, and 35 exhausting radiation sessions. Having recovered from her cancer battle, she has a fresh focus on self-healing, mindfulness, and a new career path. She now represents and works with purpose-driven brands in wellness, sustainability and clean beauty through Boundless by Kara - a personal brand extension of her work where she and her contributors write about personal brand experiences, reviews and partnerships in the conscious lifestyle and wellness sector. To connect with Kara, see links below:Kara Ladd on Instagramhttps://boundlessbykara.com/Boundless by Kara on Instagramhttps://www.boundlesscreatives.com/Boundless Creatives on InstagramThe Soulbound Self-Discovery CourseThe Soulbound Circle Monthly MembershipThe 2021 Boundless Intentions JournalBoundless Creatives Corporate ConsultingEpisode timestamps:2:34 – Kara’s origins6:26 – Background to Kara’s spirituality and upbringing8:49 – What spirituality means to Kara9:29 – The parallel of Kara’s spiritual and physical experiences11:20 – The connectedness we feel through religion and spirituality12:31 – Shaun’s relationship with religion13:13 – Connection through religion15:48 – We are all connected17:21 – We’re all praying to the same force18:33 – Detaching from religion and leaning into spirituality19:40 – The shift towards looking inward across the world20:28 – Removing the dogma of religion23:17 – We all have the tools within25:18 – Going inward is where the real work begins26:42 – What you need is within you29:32 – Do less, a little bit more31:00 – The art of meditation and our boundlessness32:36 – Life pre and post cancer42:36 – Intellect and the senses46:00 – The role of trauma in making us shift46:47 – Using our experiences to shift48:33 – Uncovering your soul wounds50:42 – Difficulty makes you question everything51:18 – What Les’ cancer did for Shaun55:25 – If you knew how long it would take, you might not start56:49 – Everything is hard work1:00:05 – Mortality isn’t morbid at all1:01:24 – The gift of life1:04:17 – Where to find KaraLet us know your thoughts and if you have any questions or suggestions for us.As always, we ask that if you’ve found any value from this discussion, please share this with one friend, family member, or colleague so they, too, have the opportunity to derive some value.Listen to the episode below!Drop us a line at thehustleandflowpodcast@gmail.com or connect with us through the links below:ShaunInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/shaun_coop/Subito Supplements: https://www.subitosupplements.com/Mixing it Up: https://www.instagram.com/mixingitup.co/LeslieFinding Space: https://www.findingspace.co/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/findingspace.co/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/findingspace.co/Find out more about the True North Transformational Program: https://www.true-north.co/
