#21 Flora & Fauna: How Julie Mathers Bootstrapped Her Way to Owning 3x 8-Figure Businesses

Julie Mathers is the incredible founder behind the vegan and eco retailer Flora and Fauna. Driven by their purpose and values, everything Flora and Fauna stocks is vegan and cruelty-free and everything in their range is selected based on ethics and environmental impact.

Completely bootstrapped, Julie grew Flora and Fauna to $20 million dollars a year in sales. Until 2021, when Julie sold Flora and Fauna for $30 million dollars, and then went on to acquire the cult baby brand Snuggle Hunny, an 8-figure business that is experiencing really fast growth.

But then, and hold on to your socks cos this blows my mind, Julie has not only recently actually bought Flora and Fauna back, but has also bought one of their previous competitors Nourish Life.
She literally now owns 3x 8-figure businesses!!

Can’t wait to dive into how it all happened - alright, let’s get into it!

#20 Anytime Fitness: How Jacinta McDonell Built Australia's #1 Gym Chain That Makes Over $330 Million a Year

#20 Anytime Fitness: How Jacinta McDonell Built Australia's #1 Gym Chain That Makes Over $330 Million a Year

Hey poddy fam! Today I’m chatting to Jacinta McDonell who made her mark in the business world when she brought the highly successful US franchise, Anytime Fitness, into Australia in 2008. At that time, the 24/7 gym model was unheard of in Australia, but Jacinta and her brother grew Anytime Fitness to become Australia's number one health club chain - opening over 425 locations nationally and achieving an annual network revenue of over $330 million before exiting in 2017. It was super interesting to learn more about the franchise model and about how she successfully scaled up to so many locations so quickly.

Fast forward to today - Jacinta is now a national board member for the Hunger Project, as well as sitting on advisory boards for other businesses and has recently started a new business Brave Spaces which supports others on their journeys of self-discovery, particularly through times of change.

    Alright, let’s get into it!

#16 Thankyou: How Daniel Flynn Created a Social Enterprise and Movement That Has Given Back $18 Million to End Extreme Poverty

#16 Thankyou: How Daniel Flynn Created a Social Enterprise and Movement That Has Given Back $18 Million to End Extreme Poverty

Hey poddy fam! Today I have a very special episode with Daniel Flynn, one of the visionary founders behind Thankyou.
Prepare to be inspired as we uncover the story and mission behind Thankyou and we go right back to the very beginning to 2008 where Daniel, Justine and Jarryd founded Thankyou to help bridge the gap between extreme poverty and extreme consumerism. It's a brand you would see in Coles, Woolies and even 7/11 that has given over $18.1M back to those who are in need. This isn't any regular business though, the Thankyou Group is 100% owned by the Thankyou Charitable Trust which distributes funds to their impactful change makers. Just like every episode, Daniel talks us through the highs and lows of his journey to success. What started as a "simple" water bottle, grew into an array of products designed for multi use - to put an end to over consumption and be kinder to humans and the environment! This is definitely one for the books, let's get into it!

Fantastic guests

Great guests with fabulous stories but the host has frequently cuts the people she’s interviewing off & speaks about herself, not always in an entirely in a relatable way. Less interjections would make this a repeat listen.
