PP# 174: Periods & Poops: How the Menstrual Cycle Affects the Digestive System with Nicole Jardim

PP# 174: Periods & Poops: How the Menstrual Cycle Affects the Digestive System with Nicole Jardim

It’s fair to say that the subject of poop, and especially girls and women and pooping, is a little taboo.
I don’t know about you, but this topic was extremely embarrassing for me to talk about for a very long time. As a teenager living in gut health hell, I was too embarrassed to use the bathroom at school and instead tried to suffer through it until I got home. No way would I risk someone being in the stall next to me hearing what was happening!
On top of the social issues, keeping poops as a don’t ask-don’t tell topic meant I had no idea that my digestive issues were linked to all my hormonal woes. Here’s the thing - we have to talk about this stuff because just like periods, our digestive health tells us a lot about our bodies but we won’t know when something is wrong if we don’t even know what is normal, to begin with. Let’s push through the discomfort and start talking.
The inspiration for this series is my first book, Fix Your Period, which arrived in the world on April 28th and is available now (with some incredible bonuses worth over $500!). During this time, I want to share super valuable information with you that is like a sneak peek into all the goodness in my book.

PP# 173:The Four Phases of the Menstrual Cycle

PP# 173:The Four Phases of the Menstrual Cycle

Female bodies are cyclical by nature, producing varying quantities of hormones at different points in our monthly menstrual cycle. These hormone fluctuations create four distinct phases of your cycle.
Learning about and embracing your internal cyclical nature is one of the most powerful and effective ways to maximize your true potential in all areas of life. Our periods don’t have to hold us back, even when we assume they will. It’s your unique cycle and you will need to learn to observe it, understand it, and work with it.

The place to go for deep topics in a fun light

I love The Period Party! Not just when my boyfriend says “the what party??” but when I’m looking for answers about my body and my mind, it’s the perfect podcast for a whole spectrum of fascinating information and each episode is fun and funny and easy to understand (even the more science heavy episodes). Nicole and Nat are sensitive to the special considerations for all their listeners, making it a friendly space for everyone. Highly recommend this podcast.

Sound quality low

really enjoy the content on the podcast however, the microphone is pretty grainy whereas it would be a much easier listen if high quality mics were invested into. that way the content is more understandable and crystal clear etc. xx

Pyrrole disorder

Love listening to the show, been a great source of information and education. Can you please do a story on pyrrole disorder, I’ve done test to find out if I have it but don’t understand it completely other than what I have googled! I believe it is similar to adrenal fatigue in that it is not widely accepted in traditional medical circles.
