A knowledgeable and entertaining Podcast

The Pollsters is a podcast by two professional women pollsters, Margie Omero and Kristen Soltis Anderson. Aside from their Gender, they are quite different; Margie is a jaded Gen-X movement progressive Democrat and working Mom, while Kristen is an idealistic old-school millennial Republican. Despite these differences, they podcast phenomenally well, as they have a good conversational rapport and are united in their passion and knowledge of the details of their profession.

The podcast generally follows the pattern of “Toplines”, or brief summaries of the week in polling, followed by discussion on major high profile polls, which may digress into the methodology of the poll, the choice of wording, the weighting formula, or other technical details that may be important to the reported result but that non-professionals would never really consider. This often leads to further discussions relating to their experience working in DC for decades, the broader societal implications to various aspects of recent polling, and comments on work life balance or other aspects of being a knowledgeable professional woman in the Washing DC political world.

The value of the show comes from the duo’s easygoing style combined with their in depth knowledge, which makes it easy to listen to and allows subtle but important details to be easily understood. The two are both dynamic, engaging speakers, and their rapport and sense of humor makes the 40 minutes go quickly. All in all, The Pollsters is a useful and entertaining listen for anyone interested in contemporary American politics or culture.

Love it!

I started listening to this show just after the last USA election but stayed around because it's fun and I've learned a surprising amount about how polling works. Highly recommended!

Funny, smart, relevant

The Pollsters is a rare but excellent contribution to contemporary cultural and political discourse: a serious discussion underpinned by a veritable bounty of quantitative research for political junkies and statistics nerds (much like fivethirtyeight). What is more, Margie and Kristen are genuinely hilarious and have a penchant for great conversations. The bipartisan perspective helps to a degree, but its honestly just the idea of two friends just chatting cordially. If you feel that politics and the news is all about conflict (all that Art of the Deal business, I know), this is a refreshingly different approach to political/cultural analysis.
For anyone even vaguely interested in politics or learning a little more about how society operates and how we get the data about that, subscribe and tune in. You won't regret it.

Keep up the amazing work!
