THE PRIMARY PE PODCAST is for teachers, coaches, headteachers - and especially PE Subject Leads at primary schools.

I work for Ministry of Football and the Football Association's PE Unit. My passion is play and - in particular - the joy and connection that happen when people come together to play and move. I am an ex-teacher, with a degree in statistics, and a background in coaching, mentoring and tutoring. The England FA is the third national governing body for football that I have worked for (previously I have worked in Papua New Guinea and New Zealand).

Sam Garrood - Using data to enhance enjoyment, inclusion and expectations

Sam Garrood - Using data to enhance enjoyment, inclusion and expectations

Sam is a Y6 class teacher and PE subject lead at Winton Primary School in Islington, London. On this podcast, he talks about using data to track children's enjoyment and inclusion in PE and school sport at Winton.

It is interesting in particular to listen to the way Sam describes his relationship with sports coaches at the school. We often frame these relationships as coach mentoring the teacher, but Sam explores why actually this might be more appropriately framed the other way round - as subject lead mentoring the coach.

All the documents Sam talks about are available to view at the Winton Primary School website.
