The Squinters Chat-Up...Nathan Bassett Never Surrender - a GWS Giants AFL podcast

    • Football

The Squinters (well A Squinter) rings up Nathan "Bassy" Bassett - ex-Norwood Redleg (1994-1996), ex-Melbourne Demon (1997), ex-Adelaide Crow (1998-2008), ex-Norwood Senior Coach (2010-2013, flags '12 & '13) , ex-Essendon Assistant Coach (2014-2015), current Port Adelaide Assistant Coach (2016-Present), All-Australian (2006) and Type 1 Diabetic (1997-present) - for a chat about what it's like for an elite AFL footy player to play footy and train footy while managing an auto-immune "eating disorder" like Type 1 Diabetes, and what insights about what he's learned he can share with Average Joes who have diabetes or a chronic condition so they can get the best out of themselves and look after themselves in the best way possible. And of course, if it's good for a diabetic, it's good for someone with a working pancreas.

This is hopefully the first of a couple of conversations with elite footy players living and playing with Type 1 Diabetes that we'll be able to post this summer. If anyone has any thoughts or questions or their own insights, get in touch at neversurrenderpod@gmail.com.

PROJECT 20K. We're at 14, 900-and something. 6000 and a bit more downloads and we might be able to get a sponsor to help us.

***REVIEW & RATE US. Go on then. Do it. After subscribing, and getting your friends to subscribe, please rate and review us (fyi - 5 stars or bugger off) on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. It means a helluva lot to the show and makes it easier for more Giants freaks to feed their appetite for AFL flag glory (in 2020).***
