Eps. 2 The Jump To James Street
What would you do if someone gave you seven and a half miles of copper wire to play with? Jack Mathews thought all his Christmases had come at once!
The year was 1938. Jack was 3GL’s chief engineer and along with station manager Reg Gray, he had been assigned with the task of relocating the 3GL transmitter and studios to prepare for the station increasing its broadcasting power.
The transmitter went to Grovedale … the studios went to James Street … and 3GL went on to be the “go to” radio station for all things Geelong and the Western District.

Clearly a lot of work has gone into researching this history. Fascinating learning the story of 3GL. A station I grew up listening to as a kid.
