Great investigative journalism, terrible storytelling

For all of you out there in Australia if you use a VPN and set your location to any other country you'll be able to listen. I just listened to every episode and I honestly don't know how the makers of this podcast managed to make such a compelling story, which they were a part of, so boring and monotonous. It is quite incredible how this podcast has influenced the course of justice, and as I said it's a great piece of investigative journalism, but if you're expecting something like Serial, or The Caliphate, then you will be disappointed. This should have been edited down to 8 episodes, instead the series goes over boring / irrelevant details again and again and again, it's so painful, there is almost no structure to the series as a whole, by episode 8 I realised that this was the case, but persisted as I was hoping it would lead somewhere, but it doesn't. Even if there was an incredibly dramatic conclusion to the story, I'm pretty sure the podcast would manage to turn it into a boring unnecessarily detailed / confusing / monontonous structureless two hour slog.
