Women of Influence, with Kate Meade for ACE Radio.

We are on a mission to find the most incredible women. Some we will know, others are going about their daily lives. Everyone has a story.

She is a CEO, She is a volunteer, She is a TV host, She is a doctor, an educator, a scientist, a leader. She is just getting on with it. What can we learn from her, what’s her message?

Join me to celebrate incredible, inspiring women and shine a great big beacon of light on their stories. Let’s learn from the women that are paving the way for us.

I love to learn and my favourite way is through storytelling. I am curious - absolutely fascinated - with people's stories. I can’t wait to get to KNOW the person in front of me and HOW they got to be where they are today.

Where did they grow up, what gets them excited, why do they do what they do and, when it gets tough… why do they do what they do?

    Making Change: CATHERINE BARRETT

    Making Change: CATHERINE BARRETT

Founder of THE KINDNESS PANDEMIC- a project that sits under the social enterprise

    Celebrating Ageing www.celebrateageing.com

You can find THE KINDNESS PANDEMIC here>>> (https://www.facebook.com/groups/515507852491119/)

Catherine is at a time of greatest challenges a voice of Kindness and empathy.
    This is just the beginning.
Catherine believes that ageing is a privilege and that older people are one of the most interesting and wonderful cohorts of humans.

She also believes that ageism is so culturally entrenched that few can see it in its entirety - and so the strategies to create cultural change had better be very powerful.

This led the the art and narratives based approaches now taken by Celebrate Ageing.

Stories build empathy and compassion, art engages people interest.
Catherine draws on her experiences as a nurse, an aged care worker, an academic and an artist to pull together a unique social enterprise that utilises art and narrative to bridge the knowledge (research) to practice (culture) gap.

On this Episode we talk about-
Loving the elderly in the communityArt and StoriesThe Kindness PandemicMaking changeWhat next and how do we help

Natalie Stevens

Kate I’m a first time listener to a podcast. I have just listened to you interviewing my niece Natalie Stevens.
Nat is a incredibly humble and inspirational human that I adore.
I can see her story creating real influence to not only her family but all her community.
I will certainly be sharing your podcasts with all the women in my life.

Cringe

Can you imagine how sexist it would be if a male did a men of influence podcast? And to have Emma Hawkins as a women of influence? She has never worked a day in her life, just the product of rich parents and a well paid football husband. She just peddles superficial garbage on Instagram and we’re supposed to see her as a pillar of society? No thanks, one star.
