You might find yourself spending countless hours curating perfect emails, or researching the right contacts, only to never hear back from them.

#Eps 72: My Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Anti-Racism in Life and Business

#Eps 72: My Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Anti-Racism in Life and Business

These last couple of weeks have left me reeling if I'm totally honest.
I feel like I just woke up after a lifelong slumber afforded to me thanks to my white privilege, and that my ignorance around #blacklivesmatter and anti-racism is unforgivable.
I feel things deeply and I am especially saddened that my actions, or lack of, deeply hurt and offend people, which they did by me not using my platform appropriately at all, in the last few weeks, but realistically the entire time I've had one.
So I'm doing what I know I can do well right now, being a student of life, being open to learning and educating myself on how having white privilege, white exceptionalism, white apathy, white fragility to name a few, has benefited me greatly in my life.
This work is beyond necessary, especially as an entrepreneur, a coach and one with a platform and a voice to be able to create real change in this world. And to be able to dismantle the systemic racism that has existed for centuries for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC).
If you're a white person who, like me, has been feeling uncomfortable, scared, apathetic, confused, hurt, in shock, surprised, pissed off, guilty, ashamed - basically all the feels, I get it.
I urge you to read Me and White Supremacy book by Layla Saad and do the journaling prompts - this is helping me to truly understand and learn and deal with all of those feelings.
This will open your eyes and help you realise that this is part of unpacking your white privilege. In the meantime, you can listen in as I share some emerging learnings, thoughts and awakenings I'm having on my commitment to equity, diversity and anti-racism.
I am sitting in so much hope of the change that we can see in this world, and the conversations and education that are happening all over the world, so that we can move forward together now, and create the equitable future and change we want to see in the world.
    In this Episode You’ll Learn:
Why my ignorance around #blacklivesmatter has been so hurtful to people I care aboutThe education I'm undertaking to be part of the solution, not part of the problemWhat five things I'm starting with changing in my business to create more equity and diversityHow I am showing up to be an ally as an entrepreneur, business coach, leading learner and friend

#Eps 71: Know What to Fix Next and Transform Your Business

#Eps 71: Know What to Fix Next and Transform Your Business

My friend, after 10 years of being in business what I find so fascinating, is this desire to still understand exactly what my business needs next.
And you'd think that I'd have it all figured out by the stage, but I'm letting you know that I don't.
In fact, I actually just hired somebody to just sit down for three hours with me and go through my entire business plan, my priorities, what's important to me and what's been working for me.
I literally paid somebody to hold me accountable to talk through this because I knew that all the next steps were there.
And that's what this week's podcast guest Mike Michalowicz is talking about today, that the biggest challenge we face as entrepreneurs, is actually knowing what our biggest challenge is.
And as a result, most businesses stay stuck in a pattern of two steps forward and three steps back.
Mike has built four multiple million-dollar companies and sold two of them one to private equity and another to a fortune 500 all before his 35th birthday.
But it wasn't an easy ride.
He lost his house once he lost his entire fortune twice. He launched 10, failed businesses and experienced years of depression.
He's a former small business columnist for The Wall Street Journal, and business makeover specialist on MSNBC, with a mission to eradicate entrepreneurial poverty.
And now he's launched his new book 'Fix This Next' and it is so timely for us entrepreneurs who are probably doing so many of the right things, but we're spinning our wheels or not moving past any 'stuckness' or a certain level of profitability, or goodness in our business.
I want you to dive right in, and absorb the goodness that Mike is offering because he doesn't often do podcast interviews, and this one doesn't disappoint!
    In this Episode You’ll Learn:
How to understand what your business needs next How to know what your biggest challenge in business really isHow to transform your business from a cash eating monster to a profit-making machine

Are you done with icky sales?
Are you done with not understanding exactly who you serve?
Then it's time to nail your niche.
Why? It can actually be overwhelming and exhausting trying to serve everyone, in fact it often flows into our marketing, leaving our audience just as confused as to whether they are the right fit!
I know, you've probably heard it over and over again, but the true reality is until we start getting clear on who we serve, we aren't able to articulate our value proposition in a tangible way for our audience.
This week's podcast with the lovely Kiwi entrepreneur Tash Corbin, is just what you need to get out of the mindset of saying 'yes' to everyone, and absolutely nail your niche and your marketing.
There is so much goodness to unpack in this episode, as Tash and I dive into how entrepreneurs can find, and nail their niche, and feel empowered to make sales to the right audience!
Tash Corbin is a business and marketing mentor for women, specialising in lean start-up and niching.
Tash has not only been helping women around the world to create businesses and get clients through feminine, aligned strategies, but she is the mastermind behind the annual Heart-Centred Business Conference.
The Heart-Centred Business Conference  is all about business, marketing and mindset for women by women. You'll actually find me there this year (online), sharing the goodness on diversifying your income!
I'm so excited to bring you this episode with such an inspiring, fellow kiwi entrepreneur with valuable insight into what establishing your niche really means, so make sure to tune in!

#Eps 69: How to Master the Sales Mindset

#Eps 69: How to Master the Sales Mindset

Have you ever had a less than desirable experience from a sleazy sales rep that left you with a sour taste in your mouth?
For Chris Spurvey, it was when his parents were suckered into buying a $3,000 vacuum (that they couldn't afford) back in the 80's.
That's a lot of money right, and back then probably a good portion of a house deposit.
It's experiences like these, that we hold onto as entrepreneurs that stop us from selling our products and services confidently.
It's what drives us to outsource our sales before anything else, or worse, give away our own stuff for free or for less than it's worth as we don't want to come across to pushy.
We're avoiding sales, but at what cost?
Chris believes this is our biggest mistake as entrepreneurs and often where most businesses fail, because we avoid communicating the value of our products or services with our own clients.
We think somebody else can do it better, when in fact we are the ones with the passion and the drive that started this business in the first place.
I am so excited to have Chris on my podcast this week to bring a fresh perspective on how aligning our mindset can make all the difference to making those damn sales!
After consciously choosing entrepreneurship as a means to create a better life for his family, Chris realized that negative beliefs about sales were holding him back from taking his ventures to the next level.
Chris went to work on himself and found a way to sell that felt right. Chris spearheaded the growth of Plato Consulting to the point it was acquired by one of the largest management consulting firms in the world (KPMG).
In the process, he sold over $300 million in consulting services. Following the acquisition, Chris turned his focus to helping other “non-sales sellers” find a way to grow their revenue in a consistent, stress-free manner.
Now more than ever there is so much to learn from sales masters like Chris so make sure to listen in for a total game changing sales mindset!
    In this Episode You’ll Learn:
Why entrepreneurs are not getting the volume of sales they need and what to do about itHow aligning your mindset will change the sales gameWhat contribution marketing really means for your businessHow writing his book 'It's Time To Sell' was a gamechanger for Chris
