#008 Katrina is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) with over 25 years Occupational Health and Safety experience in the chemical, manufacturing, retail, local government, health and steel manufacturing industries.
An early acute care nursing career lead to post graduate studies in Occupational Health Nursing (Cumberland College 1986/87) and Grad Dip Ergonomics (UNSW) completion in 2003.
Experience includes 16 years at BlueScope Steel Australia & New Zealand – a steel manufacturing industry with 6,000 employees and 90 manufacturing processing and distribution centres Australia wide. Katrina held a national role with BlueScope (Australia and New Zealand) as an Ergonomist 2011 - 2115.
Katrina now has her own consultancy Think Ergonomics. Recent clients work has included work organisation review, design review in manufacturing, prototype product design review and expert opinion reports.
Katrina’s leadership skills include guiding people at all levels of an organisation to discover how to observe work practices and processes through a fresh lens.  
Katrina has been an active member of the Human Factors & Ergonomics Society of Australia (HFESA) since 2006, including Board Director for 4years (2011-2015). Katrina is a current member of the Safe Work NSW Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) Consultative Committee.
Katrina has co-written written a book “Ergonomics and Human Factors for Engineers”, an in -house publication to guide engineers and designers to consider the user in reducing injury and increase productivity
There is certainly more to ergonomics than chair and monitor heights.
