Armorer Larry Zanoff (Django Unchained, Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Matrix Resurrections) is a combat veteran, a bonafide gunsmith, and a weapons trainer for actors and law enforcmenet officers alike. He is also a great storyteller and educator, which makes him uniquely capable of explaining the critically important, yet often overlooked role of an armorer. Join us for a discussion on the responsibilities of an on-set armorer, cross-collaboration with departments you wouldn't expect, and what we need to learn from the rare but devastating on-set firearm tragedies that have captured headlines for decades.

For fans of The Rewatchables

I’m a big fan of the Rewatchables and this podcast has a lot of the same elements; hosts who seem like people I would want to be friends with, interesting takes on film history/the industry and funny, impromptu moments that make me laugh along too.
I also really appreciate one of the main hosts being who a woman, who is both funny and insightful. And a male host (with production experience) who’s so comfortable pointing out how handsome the leading men are! I’ve actually listened to eps on the same movies they’ve done on the Rewatchables and it didn’t feel like a double-up. I like this structure of working through the film production chronologically. My only criticism is that, with one host clearly deep-diving on each film, it can feel a little one sided/like a school project if the other host doesn’t have much to add. I think you should lean into how long it’s been since you rewatched, your impressions/surprises and how the film has aged. These are often my favourite parts. I’m working my way through backwards. Will be sorry when I’m all caught up.

The Best Podcast. That’s it. That’s the review.

As someone who regularly geeks out in the trivia section of IMDb after watching a movie this is podcast paradise. Not only is it well researched but you also get succinct and thoughtful little tidbits on filmmaking itself. What sets this podcast apart is the hosts, Chris and Liz have a great rapport and more importantly their genuine love of film comes through. It’s honestly changed the way I watch film, there’s so much respect for all the behind the scenes people. Film can seem so inaccessible but this podcast humanises it. P.s. the Galaxy Quest episode made me tear up at work, I was going to knock off a star for that but I wish I could give it 10 a out of 5.

Addictive, entertaining and informative

I listen to a LOT of podcasts. And I can honestly say this is my new go-to daily listen. There are loads of movie review and nostalgia shows out there, but this one nails it. Easily the best. Why?

The presenters for one. Their chemistry, friendship and passion for film is evident. They’re not only fun to listen to, and their interplay is effortless and natural, but what they don’t know about the films they feature isn’t worth knowing.

It’s fascinating hearing about the making of and behind the scenes issues that go on with each of the films they’ve covered. It’s also given me a whole new appreciation for the craft, dedication and absolute madness that’s required to bring an idea to screen.

Listening to this is a bit like watching the film with two insightful and enthusiastic buddies, and it’s safe to say they’ve prompted me to rewatch films as well as jump into ones I never would have considered (ROAR and Showgirls to name just two).

Keep up the great work. I honestly haven’t listened to much else since discovering this and going through the back catalogue. It’s awesome.
