In the late 1990s, Japan was suffering a recession and many people were desperate. Few would have put themselves through what poor Nasubi had to endure however.

With ambitions of a career as a stand-up comedian, the young man entered a game show where he would essentially be tortured for over a year, all for the cameras.

It's Christmas so settle in for a suitably chilly episode as AJ and Matt dive into another maritime mystery.

In the 19th Century, a northwest passage through modern day Nunavut in Canada to more easily access eastern Asia was of the utmost importance to the British navy. One such voyage, led by Sir John Franklin, was equipped with the latest technology and an experienced and able crew, and yet the two ships and all the sailors upon them vanished and were never heard from again!

On July 4th, 1928, eccentric Belgian financier Alfred Loewenstein boarded his private plane for a short hop across the English Channel, but between take off and landing the world's third richest man vanished without a trace.
