Happy, healthy people are more effective teachers and more productive members of society. Yet, an increasing number of teachers are suffering stress-related illness and burnout. Some of these educators struggle through at a reduced capacity, but quite a lot just leave the profession altogether. Many educators put everyone else's health and happiness before their own, because they just want to make a difference. However, it backfires because the external expectations and demands of the job keep increasing regardless of the dwindling reserves of teachers. This podcast aims to facilitate and contribute to the conversation about teacher wellbeing, positive schools and burnout prevention, to inspire and empower educators of all kinds to take back control of their health and happiness by being proactive about their wellbeing, and to give teachers permission to put themselves first, so that they can go on making a difference long into the future.

6th Podcast Birthday + Season 10 Coming Soon

Happy 6th Birthday to the Teacher Wellbeing Podcast!

It sure has been an amazing ride since I began the podcast in 2017. I could not have predicted where things would end up but I’m so proud of the 9 seasons that have been produced so far. In the time since I began the show, the teacher wellbeing industry has matured so much and is now mainstream in schools across Australia.

And of course 6 years in and my personal and professional life look extremely different than when I started the show. In this episode I share a litte update!

Finding Sacred Ground in your Leadership, with Katrina Bourke

Finding Sacred Ground in your Leadership, with Katrina Bourke

This is a brilliant conversation with Katrina Bourke, a good friend to the podcast who has been on the show several times before. We discuss leadership sacred ground, what it is, why you need it and how we find it. Katrina also shares the power of deep self-awareness and why it’s also important that we understand and accept our shadow sides. Plus, we talk about what gets in the way of showing up as the best leaders we can be and advice for new and emerging leaders too.

Leahs Thanks ,

Leah’s Thanks

Thank you so much for this wonderful podcast, your gentle and compassionate approach and the stories that you tell. You have been a place of grounding over the past month as I grapple with the obstacles I am facing in my teaching vocation. So much resonates with me and I am so grateful that I am not alone in this time of change and in my quest to empower myself and reinvigorate my resilience. 💕

Finsternater ,

Thank-you!

I’m not a teacher but as a parent (and a constant student), I wanted to check out this podcast. I was not disappointed, and this pick reminded me of the magic of podcasting. Looking for information about a topic and being given so much more! What Ellen gave me was 54 minutes of truth and passion far beyond teaching and education in Australia. She shared the journey of being an entrepreneur and in particularly the journey of producing a podcast over the past 4 years - the high lights and the low lights. In this instragram age, it can be difficult to discern what really is the truth behind growing a business and by sharing her experiences Ellen gives the listeners valuable insights (many of which could help you to avoid losing money, time and sleep!) but also encouragement. She must be a great teacher and coach – she thinks deeply, is forthright but, like all good teachers, sprinkles the truth with encouragement and hope! Thx, Lz

Lozza78m ,

Thank you

Thank you Ellen for sharing these podcasts on such an important issue! I wish more teachers felt safe to have conversations about the impacts of work on their wellbeing rather than suffering in silence - or quitting!
