    On the show today we bring you the story of D Lakshmipathy’s Five Star Business Finance, Chennai-based non-banking finance company that specializes in small ticket loans for India’s ‘un-banked’. Lakshmipathy took over the business in 2002 and Five Star over the years has established a unique underwriting model to assess businesses and extend collateralized loans to them. With a presence in over 150 locations across South India, serving 40,000 businesses and individuals; Five Star’s assets under management stand at Rs 1220 crores. Interestingly, Five Star’s net NPAs stand at less than 1%. This NBFC has raised over $150 million to date but its first cheque came from Matrix Partners India back in 2014.     On the show today we bring you the story of Manish Patel’s MSwipe, a maker of point of sale or POS machines for merchants. MSwipe has deployed a network of 280,000 PoS terminals in India across 650 towns and cities since its inception in 2011. Apart from mobile PoS devices, the company also has a payment gateway for processing payments online and an automated payment settlement system for merchants. The venture has raised $65 million to date but its first cheque came from MSwipe back in 2013.
