Exploring Ways to Nurture Your Career | Episode 04

Exploring Ways to Nurture Your Career | Episode 04

Our guest today is Tobi Oluwole. Tobi had quite an interesting path. He had different roles in his career. A Founder, CEO, Account Executive, Team Lead, and Consultant, just to name a few.

Tobi encourages the idea of not being defined by a single job. He develops his career by wearing multiple hats. He also understands that the current economic context requires an intentional approach. Be it exploring different jobs, developing a strong value proposition, or transitioning to a completely different career.

During the episode, we discussed how job titles do not define our careers. How can you think about developing multiple revenue streams. And also, how international students and immigrants can navigate the market with a limited network to start with.

Tobi works at Shopify in Ottawa as a Merchant Success Manager, but he is also the CEO and Co-Founder of the3Skills. His platform aims to develop the most marketable people in the world by equipping them with the skills they need to understand and communicate their true value.

His approach to job search and career development is interesting, and what he’s doing with his team at The3Skills is definitely worth exploring.

    So, let’s hear from Tobi!

Immigration, Resilience, and Overcoming a Challenging Integration | Episode 03

Today, we are hosting Patricia Bittencourt.

Patricia has been an HR enthusiast for 18 years now. She graduated in Psychology and even though she worked for the last decade at global corporations, such as HSBC Bank and the automaker Renault-Nissan Alliance, she could never imagine herself living abroad before her husband came home one day with bold plans of moving to Quebec.

So, 3 years ago they moved from Brazil to Montreal with their 2-year-old daughter, 7 boxes of stories and full of dreams. It has been one hell of a ride. From the scary nights when she thought ‘what the rack did I do’ to the blessing of feeling of finding her new home.

Followed by the experience of becoming a mom, immigration transformed her and continues to shape who she is. Patricia is the HR Director of a medical device company in Montreal called Dental Wings.

In this episode, we spoke about the challenges she faced as an immigrant in Quebec. Patricia wanted also to share what’s really important for immigrants to prepare for such an adventure.

So, let's hear more from her!

In this episode, we spoke about campus recruitment and how it is different from regular corporate recruitment. We also used this opportunity to discuss how fresh graduates can learn about employers and their teams on digital platforms.

Amanda understands her market. She understands the challenges encountered by junior professionals, and how they can benefit from campus recruitment programs
