E129: Awakening the Queen Within with Dr. Kennedy Garcia

Did you know that girls stop dreaming at the age of seven, whereas boys continue to dream all the way through adulthood? Sadly, the act of no longer seeing yourself in a dream or being able to live your dream is one of the triggers of hopelessness that could result in suicide attempts. In this episode, Dr. Kennedy Garcia talks about her efforts to bridge this gender dream gap through her own nonprofit organization called The Dream Academy, which aims to teach girls leadership skills and provide them with resources to live their dreams. Her advocacy work is personal as she became a suicide loss survivor 15 years ago and decided to become an advocate for mental health, increasing access to services and resources in the community. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:The gender dream gap and how The Dream Academy bridges the gapThe need for continuous mentorshipSteps to building self-confidenceThe importance of a personal board of directorsEpisode Highlights:[04:32] The Dream Academy: Bridging the Gender Dream GapCreating resources when people are in crisis is wonderful, but it’s important to address the root causes. We shouldn’t wait until there’s a tragedy before we give someone resources to do something about it. A study suggests that girls stop dreaming at 7 years old. That’s a far cry from boys who continue to dream throughout adulthood. Not being able to realize your dream leads to hopelessness that could lead to suicidal ideation and attempts. This is the impetus behind the creation of The Dream Academy. We need to restore the ability of girls to dream by giving them the resources to live them out.[08:12] The Need for Continuous MentorshipDr. Kennedy Garcia emphasizes the importance of mentorship in helping people overcome limited beliefs, especially when they come from negative environments. Mentorship is a cyclical process that requires time and effort to help mentees reach a place of self-empowerment and of a positive mindset. She has witnessed the transformation of people’s lives through mentorship and believes that it is a valuable tool in eliminating limited beliefs.[16:24] Steps to Building Self-ConfidenceConnect with your Creator: Spend time in prayer, meditation, or whatever form of connection that resonates with you to tap into that source. Reflect on the qualities your Creator instilled in you and affirm them.Identify your strengths: Take an inventory of your strengths and talents. Recognize what makes you unique and exceptional. This will help you focus on what you are good at rather than what you lack.Embrace your blind spots: Recognize where you need to grow and improve. Instead of seeing your blind spots as weaknesses, view them as opportunities for development.Take action: Confidence comes from taking action. Practice and do as much as you can. The more you do, the more confident you will become. Remember, progress is better than perfection.Resources Mentioned:Spiritual Boss ChickIf you’ve been dreaming of writing a nonfiction book but don’t know where to begin, check out www.activateauthor.com and learn how you can complete a book manuscript in only 90 days.

E128: Manifesting the Life You Always Wanted with Alexis Amato

The term “manifestation” is commonly thrown around these days. But what does it really mean? What does the manifestation practice look like and feel like? What can it do for your life? That’s what we’re talking about today with Alexis Amato, a master mindset and manifestation coach, retreat leader, speaker, and influencer who strives to help women get to the next step in their business by using strategy and the tools of manifestation. She’s a multi-business owner and teaches women how they can go from unemployed to six figures in less than one year. Let’s get to manifesting the life you always wanted. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:Manifesting a partnerThe first step to start manifestingIdentifying your limiting beliefsThe power of gratitude and visualizationIt’s not about being perfect every daySpecific vs. non-specific manifestingEpisode Highlights:[05:24] Manifesting a PartnerManifestation is more about the energy and emotions we want to experience rather than just physical characteristics. Focusing on how you want to feel in a relationship, such as feeling loved, cherished, and supported, is more powerful than trying to manifest a specific physical appearance or a personality trait.[09:05] How to Start ManifestingGet clear on what you want to manifest. Be specific and write it down.Identify any limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. Write them down and then create positive affirmations to counteract them. Becoming aware of limiting beliefs is an important step in the manifestation process. These beliefs can be subconscious and may be holding you back from achieving what you want in life. Once you identify them, you can work on shifting your mindset and replacing them with positive, empowering beliefs.Practice gratitude every day. Write down all the things you are grateful for each morning or evening. Gratitude is an automatic high vibration. By cultivating gratitude, you can raise your vibrational frequency and attract more positive experiences into your life.Visualize yourself already having what you want. Use all of your senses to imagine how it feels, smells, looks, and sounds. Your subconscious doesn’t know that you don’t have it so you’re able to quickly get more into vibration with the things that you want.Take action towards your goals. Manifestation is not just about positive thinking; it also requires inspired action.[12:24] It’s Not About Being Perfect Every DayIt’s not about being happy but staying aligned with your true self. There is no one on this planet that is going to be perfect every day, all day. For instance, instead of getting mad about being stuck in traffic, let it go and enjoy the time. Either sit there in traffic and be angry, or sit there and be happy, using that time to listen to a self-development podcast. Try to make the best of every situation and always look at it from a place of love. Whether it’s a death in your family or getting cheated on, the overall goal in order to manifest fast is to be able to bring so much gratitude, that in every situation you can find the love in it.[17:11] Specific vs. Nonspecific Manifesting If you’re a nonspecific manifester, you’re just really going by the way that the manifest makes you feel. If you’re a specific manifester, you really want to get into the specifics of the thing you want. If it’s the car, visualize the color, the interior, the cost, etc.Resources Mentioned:www.manifestwithalexis.comIf you’ve been dreaming of writing a nonfiction book but don’t know where to begin, check out www.activateauthor.com and learn how you can complete a book manuscript in only 90 days.

E127: Why Your Gut Health Matters and How it Impacts Your Life with Gutpersonal Founder, Bridgitte Mallinson

A ton of women deal with gut issues and symptoms like bloating, constipation, frequent bathroom visits, cramps, and acid reflux that are pretty overt. However, we don’t really associate gut issues with low energy, hair loss, skin issues like acne and eczema, hormone imbalances, anxiety, depression, etc. And if you want to feel your best, you’ve got to work on your gut health. In today’s episode, Bridgitte Mallinson, functional medicine dietitian, shares a wealth of wisdom about gut health, why it matters, and how it impacts your life. Bridgitte is the founder and CEO of Gutpersonal, a seven-figure supplement company with a mission to improve the health and wealth of all women.Through her own lifelong struggle with her gut, Bridgitte has spent a decade studying functional medicine and nutrition. She’s built a seven-figure company in just 16 months during the pandemic. She launched Gutpersonal as her way to change the world in a big way and with a mission to improve the health and wealth of all women. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:Ways to treat your gut issuesFood is the symptom, not the problemThe role of personalized supplements in gut healthWhat it takes to have a successful businessThe importance of setting goalsThe power of speaking your dreams out loudEpisode Highlights:[06:48] Ways to Heal Your Gut IssuesThere are health issues that can’t be solved with food, and it’s a common misconception for people to go on a restrictive diet, a low FODMAP diet, or even a gluten-free diet. For some people, a gluten-free diet is very powerful but you want to get tested first. Oftentimes, food is not the problem, rather, it’s a symptom. For instance, if someone is reacting really strongly to gluten, dairy, eggs, or certain vegetables, the problem is not the food itself – but that’s because the gut is messed up.[08:16] The Role of Supplements to Promote Gut HealthIf you’re wanting to heal your gut issues, your energy issues, and your hormones, supplements are the answer – and personalized supplements are the answer. If you have been having gut issues for decades, you may be taking action. The question is if you’re taking the right action. It’s just not about going to another doctor’s visit. It’s time to try something new, such as taking personalized supplements. The medical community can be very disempowering as they’re giving you solutions that aren’t really solutions. At Gutpersonal, they empower everyone to eliminate gut issues – for good – through a personalized approach.Resources Mentioned:www.bridgittemallinson.comIf you’ve been dreaming of writing a nonfiction book but don’t know where to begin, check out www.activateauthor.com and learn how you can complete a book manuscript in only 90 days.

E126: Periods, Poop, and Other Things with Dr. Lyndsey Maher

Sadly, the conversation about periods, poops, and other things women go through, is something that we’re not having enough so we don’t know what normal really is. And when you don’t know what normal is then you can’t know what abnormal is. You just don’t know what you don’t know.In this conversation, Dr. Lyndsey Maher, owner and director of Soleil Acupuncture, joins us to talk all about what women should know about their bodies. A licensed naturopathic doctor based in Connecticut, Lyndsey talks about what goes on in a woman’s body once you get to a certain age. Passionate about women’s health in all stages of life, Lyndsey is still in constant disbelief at how incredible the female body is. Get a load of information from her today, including all of the things that we think women have to suffer through when we don’t really have to!Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:Perimenopausal definition and symptomsUnderstanding the menstrual cycle and what a normal period should look likeWhat your stool should look likeFinding an experienced provider you’re comfortable withThe importance of looking at your hormonesThe effects of hormonal birth controlThe concept of seed cyclingEpisode Highlights:[02:55] What Does Perimenopausal Mean?Premenopausal is truly a woman who is cycling fertile and has a regular period every month, whereas perimenopausal is about seven to 10 years before menopause. Sometimes, we connote it with those one to two years leading up to menopause, because that’s when a lot of those changes take place. The average age of menopause in the United States is 51, so women in their 40s are pretty much in their perimenopausal period. Symptoms of perimenopause include sleep changes, feeling warmer than usual, hot flashes, sweats and discomfort. It can be a constellation of different things that everyone experiences. It could also manifest through stubborn weight that you just can’t lose.[06:03] Understanding the Menstrual CycleThe menstrual cycle starts from the first day of bleeding to the next bleed. In essence, the purpose of this cycle is to essentially get pregnant. Research says that a normal cycle is between roughly 27 to 32 days so we should be having between nine and 10 to 12 periods a year.[07:22] What a Normal Period Should Look LikeAn ideal period would be 20 days with minimal cramping, no need to take a pain reliever, and no need to take off time. You also don’t need to be in the fetal position on your bed for much of that time. There should be no headaches. Knowing your hormonal levels is a good way to start balancing your hormones out.[17:33] The Effects of Hormonal Birth ControlThe advent of hormonal birth control really gave women the empowerment to go into the workforce and not become a mom right away. It’s also allowing for underserved populations to have a little bit more control who don’t have education surrounding their body. But if women knew more about their bodies, it would give them more empowerment and control over their planning than to take something that dismisses and shuts down the conversation between the brain and your ovaries. Younger women who go on birth control have a greater likelihood to develop depression since their brains are not yet fully formed. If you are on hormonal birth control, you’re not getting those ebbs and those flows. You’re not going to be as creative and productive as you would like to be so you could regress a little bit and feel those sensations of depression.[26:07] The Seed CyclingEating seeds like flax seeds in the follicular phase promote more estrogen. Flax seeds are also good at bulking up the stool. In the second half,

E125: Finding the Missing PEACE in Your Life with Flory Hiatrides

Do you feel like nothing seems to be going right in your life right now? Well, everything in your life is interconnected, and so, you’ve got to make sure all these pieces are aligned in order for you to find the happiness, peace, and success you’re looking for.In today’s episode, Flory Hiatrides will help us find the missing PEACE in your life and how you can find awareness in figuring that out. Flory is a mom, a mathematician, a mentor, an entrepreneur, and an educator. She is the founder of a group called A Wakened Events, where she teaches people how to maximize their success and happiness using ancient wisdom, modern science, and proven business strategies to change lives. Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:Breaking down PEACEAwareness transmutes outcomesHow to protect your energyTime management vs. energy managementYour emotions as your navigation systemMaking deliberate choices to protect your energyThe importance of physical health and supportEpisode Highlights:[03:05] What is the PEACE Acronym?Physical – bodyEmotional – relationshipsAspirational – your goalsCerebral – work or schoolEthereal – SpiritThose are the pieces of your life puzzle that add up to the overall PEACE. If they do not fit together and they’re not in alignment, the big picture isn’t going to look pretty. Hence, taking an inventory of your life by looking at those five components can be very useful. For instance, it’s almost impossible to talk about a physical injury without the other pieces. People do, however, and that’s the issue. They try to isolate and do physical therapy, but they’re not doing emotional therapy or ethereal therapy.Awareness is the key to all this because awareness transmutes outcomes. When an experiment is observed, the outcome changes. And being aware of all five of these components is going to send good energy to you in a different way.[13:11] Making Deliberate ChoicesToday, you are fully capable and empowered by the universe to make choices. These are choices to keep you in your personality as long as you can, without having to go outside your zone. You want to make deliberate choices, which means freedom – because what you find in the word, “deliberate,” is the word “liberate.” If you make deliberate choices, you’re protecting your energy.[17:08] Goal Setting and Achieving GoalsYour emotions are your navigation system. If you keep trying and pushing, it’s not going to feel right. Instead, be mindful – push and have goals – but you also have to pull and let the universe deliver.[21:27] How to Stay in higher vibrationsStaying in a higher vibration of joy and happiness is all about how you feel about what you’re doing. For example, when you eat a slice of cheesecake, it might be not the best thing you can eat, but it could be the best thing you can eat to raise your spirit. These pieces of PEACE are so interconnected, but what is truly relevant in each one of them is how we feel about them.Resources Mentioned:www.a-wakened-events.comIf you’ve been dreaming of writing a nonfiction book but don’t know where to begin, check out www.activateauthor.com and learn how you can complete a book manuscript in only 90 days.
