Live from the Fête of Britain

Live from the Fête of Britain

    Something different!

We visit the Fête of Britain to investigate the future of democracy, a giant ear, a UN marble run, a Brian Eno audio-visual-scape and the sounds of Manchester's finest on the LOWD Soundsystem...

This is an invitation to musicians, creatives, organisers, activists and anyone who wishes they could fix up the world a bit.

We all know the problems. This event was about the solutions. Hope, imagination, mobilisation and our collective potential to ✨ the future.

The Fête of Britain was a festival of art, comedy, music and activism from the newly formed Hard Art collective. As Lee Jasper put it “A cultural thought experiment into the future of democracy” with a healthy dose of lols, people power and proper knees up with the LOWD Soundsystem 💃😤

    This episode includes conversations with

    · Extinction Rebellion Co-founder Clare Farrell

    · 40 year activist and former advisor to the Mayor of London Lee Jasper

    · Elvis from Humanity Project

    · Mike and Sian from Mikesian Studios

    · Kent from the UN Bureau of Significant Imagination.

Plus words and sounds from Brian Eno, MC Chunky, Black Josh, Louie VI, Chimpo, Herchester, Oneda, DJ Snuff, Disabled People Against Cuts and Rob Hopkins

It powered me up and I’m up for chatting to anyone who wants a bit of that energy ⚡️ Find me @makingmovements.world on insta or makingmovements.world@gmail.com

Big thank you to Manchester finest Reform Radio and everyone who had a chat 💚

Her musical selections are soulful, spiritual and lyrical. Heads were nodding in the studio!

    Jess Thompson

    Jess Thompson

    Cooking up something special!

Jess is a Bristolian raver, a traveller and a passionate advocate for migrants and refugees. I've known her nearly 20 years, since she arrived at my primary school from Scotland, and we've been friends ever since.

She's always been politically aware and unafraid to challenge what she thinks is wrong. Seeing her found Migrateful, a cooking school led by migrant and refugee chefs, and take it from strength to strength has made me very proud!

Her musical selections span 5 countries - England, Ireland, Mexico, Senegal and America - each with a story to tell.

    Songs from:

♫ Shy FX - Shake Your Body

♫ The Gloaming - The Lobster

    ♫ Elvis Crespo - Suavamente

♫ Amadou & Mariam - Sénégal Fast Food

♫ Nina Simone - Everything Must Change

    Intro music by Ralph TV.
