The Girlie's Guide to Conquering Your Fears & Getting in the Gym

The Girlie's Guide to Conquering Your Fears & Getting in the Gym

Are you a girl? Cool. Want to go to the gym but feel intimidated or overwhelmed, specifically by doing things that are often male-dominated and difficult (i.e. strength training)? You found the right episode - today, I'm breaking down the barriers that keep women out of the gym and giving some tangible tips to help you find your confidence and get in there!

I used to be really scared to go to the gym and would stay on the treadmill ONLY. Weights? No. Machines? No. Anything other than hiding behind a 50-year-old treadmill that barely works and feels like misery? No.

And honestly, the fears I had around trying anything new at the gym were real - and I know many other women share them. In this episode, I talk through some of these fears: namely, the fear of not knowing what you're doing, being judged, and... men.

One day I finally let my desire to challenge myself surpass my discomfort and went to the weight room in my college gym. From there, it was history. Taking up more space in the gym by lifting weights has transformed my mental and physical health in ways that make all the discomfort and fears worth it. I hope that this episode inspries you to go for it, too.

Feelings That Are "Normal" but Not "Normalized"

Feelings That Are "Normal" but Not "Normalized"

Today's episode is a continuation of my previous episode diving into the quarter life crisis concept. I don't know about you, but going through this type of crisis (or just life in general) can bring up a lot of feelings that are not talked about and/or accepted by society - leaving us in even more of a crisis than where we started.

This episode is an honest conversation about some of the feelings/concepts that have made me feel guilty or insecure over the past several months, but I truly believe from my conversations and observations that these feelings are "normal"; they simply aren't "normalized."

While I don't have all the answers, I hope that this episode is at the very least a reminder that you aren't alone if you are experiencing any of these feelings. And if it resonates, I hope you feel empowered to normalize your experiences & those of people you care about. It only takes one person to make a change!

Exploring the Concept of the "Quarter Life Crisis"

Exploring the Concept of the "Quarter Life Crisis"

I don't know about you, but my entire social media feed has been filled with some serious, some not-so-serious references to the "quarter life crisis" (specifically, how everyone is coping with it by either getting married or running marathons.)

Today, I want to dive deeper into this concept by sharing some of the research that I have uncovered regarding

    1) WHAT this crisis entails

    2) HOW to know if you are experiencing it

    3) WHY our generation in particular is experiencing this so heavily

and finally, a discussion about how people are coping with it and whether these coping mechanisms are "healthy" (this is up for debate...)

While I certainly don't have all the answers, I hope this episode at least gives you something to think about, and more than anything can help you feel less alone if you feel that you are experiencing a quarter life crisis right now.

Accept the Challenge of Celebrating Yourself

Accept the Challenge of Celebrating Yourself

I know firsthand how difficult it can be to be proud of ourselves for our accomplishments, for all the work we're in the process of completing, and for who we are as people. Yet, lately I've also been recognizing the importance of carving out time for celebrations - both big and small - to actually enjoy everything we're going through!

In this episode, I chat through my challenges with taking time to celebrate my accomplishments & my tendencies to be a toxic workaholic that have resulted in me feeling unhappy in what I have and always wondering "what's next?"

I'll also share a few strategies that have helped me get out of that unfortunate mindset, so if you're struggling too, hopefully you can leave this episode knowing you're not alone and have some tangible strategies to get through it!

My Running Journey (If I Can Do It, So Can You)

My Running Journey (If I Can Do It, So Can You)

Welcome back to another episode! This one has been planned for a long time, but I thought it would be extra special to record it as my marathon approaches this weekend.

I truly have hated running for most of my life (and still do sometimes,) so the thought of running a marathon was completely out of the picture for a long time. In this episode, I go into detail on how my relationship with running & cardio in general has changed and ultimately led me to this very out-of-character decision of mine.

I also spend a good portion of the episode touching on some of the tips, tricks, and life hacks that have made running a bit more bearable for me - so if you're looking for tips on your own journey, I gotchu!

Hope you enjoy the episode, and remember that you are fully capable of anything you set your mind to! :)

Selective Focus: You Can't Do It All

Selective Focus: You Can't Do It All

Welcome to another mental health focused episode! This one is all about the hard lesson that, unfortunately, we can’t improve every aspect of our life or our health at once. I’ve had to learn this hard lesson by sacrificing my mental health for various areas of my life that I think I can improve all at the same time… that has never worked out too well.

In this episode, you’ll get to hear some of my vulnerable experiences trying (and failing) to improve in every area - and how I’ve grown to accept where I’m at in some pieces of my life while actively working on improving others. Hopefully this episode can be both relatable and inspiring!
