Episode 58 - Barry Andrews from Shriekback

“Lived Through That” is the companion podcast to my book where I look at influential musicians of the 80s and 90s and where they are today. On this podcast, we’ll delve deeper into a single pivotal moment in the lives of some of the artists I feature in that book, as well as other artists I love and admire. The stories they tell are open, honest, and inspiring.
I'm really pleased to have as our guest this week Barry Andrews with a story about quite literally breaking down walls. Barry started off his musical journey as the keyboardist in XTC. He played on their first two records before leaving to start Shriekback with Dave Allen, former bass player for the Gang of Four.  Shreikback’s best known song might be “My Spine is the Bassline,” but it’s their 1985 song “Nemesis” that I feel is a totally underrated track of the 80s and well worth searching out.
You can find what Barry's up to on the Shriekback site at www.shriekback.com
