Creative Aging: Finding memory and connection through art and nature.

In this discussion we explore the spiritual, emotional, physical, and neurological effects of nature through practical examples of programs developed for those with memory loss, dementia, and their care partners. Hear from experts from Microsoft Design, Frye Art Museum and the UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center. We've explored how the principles of inclusive design were applied in the development of these programs and provided suggestions to leverage nature as an antidote to the perils of everyday life during a pandemic.

    Moderated by Lana Sutherland.

Our experts reveal that the more aware we are of these influences, the more we can use them to our advantage.

Featuring Gastronomer and Founder of T.A.S.T.E Dr. Peter Klosse along with the former deputy Director of the Cornell Institute for Behavioral Economics and Consumer Choice, Professor Adam Brumberg.

Have we all become archivists in the modern age? Featuring Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian, RISD and Parsons.

Have we all become archivists in the modern age? Featuring Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian, RISD and Parsons.

What is Retrospective Archiving? It is the curation of the present. We depend on archives to learn about the past, but how do we document the present? Who chooses what is collected and saved and what is forgotten? How can we engage communities in the storytelling and make the process transparent and personalized?

Join us for a roundtable discussion with the very curators who are determining what we remember. Emily Orr of Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian, Andy Law of Rhode Island School of Design, and Andrew LeClair Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design, to learn why we curate what we curate, and how that affects the future.
