    बदलूराम का बदन | Badluram Ka Badan

The podcast is based on the story of Assam Regiment's regimental song Badluram Ka Badan.
The Assam Regiment of the Indian Army is known for its fierceness. With its unique tagline of “Tagde Raho”, the regiment has proved its mettle time and again since its formation in 1941. An interesting story related to this regiment is that of Rifleman Badluram, on which the regimental song of the Assam Regiment is based upon.
The matter is of 1944, when the Second World War was in its final phase and the Assam Regiment was deployed for the security of Kohima and its surroundings. In the early days of this ongoing battle with the Japanese army, Badluram was martyred from a bullet wound.
After Badluram's death, the quartermaster did not remove his name from the ration roster. Because of which the company kept sending ration in the name of Badluram. Some say that the quartermaster intentionally did not notice his death, while others say that he forgot to do so.
After few days the Japanese soldiers of the Fifteenth Army laid siege to Kohima, cutting off all the probable lines of ration supply. The first Royal Berkshires Company commander at that time wrote in his diary "the water was low and limited to about one pint per day per person". This additional ration that came during the days of the siege helped the company survive. The song was composed by Major M. T. Proktor in the honor of Shaheed Badlu Ram.
