EP 40 - How to Talk about Alcohol, Without Nagging The Parent & Teen Toolbox

    • Parenting

2020 hasn’t been much fun, has it?

So now Christmas is almost here, it’s understandable that we want to crack open a bottle or two and let our hair down.

BUT - how do we address the issues of alcohol with our teenagers, without sounding like a nag - or worse still a hypocrite?

In this episode, I discuss the importance of having open conversations with our kids - sooner rather than later.

Of course, our children need to understand the challenges that drinking too much involves - but when we are in conversation with our kids - it helps to :
* Display Compassion and Understanding
* Set Exceptions
* Define the Ground Rules & Boundaries
* Avoid Judgement

I also give you a handy exercise that will help your teenager take back control if they find themselves in a tricky situation with friends.
~~~~~
Help strengthen your child’s resilience by showing them ways to build their self-confidence and their self-esteem with this 2 exercise:
