    Our special guest will be 21 year FDNY veteran FF Joseph Bonanno. Joe’s father was a 34 year FDNY veteran firefighter in Engine 88 and Engine 306 as well as his brother Michael, also a firefighter in Engine 315, Engine 216 and Ladder 7. He was Appointed in May 1979, assigned Engine 319, Did a 2 month detail in Ladder 138 and then Ladder 151. In 1982 transferred to Ladder 129. In 1996 he again transferred to Ladder 152 and finished out his career and retired 2001. He is the author of The Healthy Firehouse Cook book in 1995, The Firehouse Grilling Cookbook in 1998, Monutza The Firefighting Elephant children's book in 2006, and American Firehouse Cuisine cookbook in 2011. He has appeared several times on “Live with Regis”, Martha Stewart, The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS Saturday Morning, FOX N.Y. and many others. He has been featured in the New York Times, The Daily News, The NY Post, Eating Well and Bon Appetit. You don’t want to miss this one. He was one of the heroes that saved a woman from a cab, still attached to a tractor-trailer, that was dangling over the side of a bridge. Since his death-defying rescue 115ft above the Ohio River, his life has been a whirlwind of interviews and appearances. He has gotten much of the attention since the incident, but he has quickly praised the other guys at the incident from his department. “Everybody did their jobs that day. She was appointed to FDNY in Sept.1982 and then assigned to E298. She worked there until her Promotion to Fire Marshall in March 1993. Promoted to LT in Sept. 1996 and covered in the 33 Battalion before being assigned to Engine 321. She helped write 2 Lt's tests and was recruited to work at FLIPS. She helped train over 600 LTs until 9/11. She was Promoted to Capt. in spring of 2002. She covered in the 14 division until her retirement in 2003. Capt. Monahan was a teacher in 1978 when her mother encouraged her to test for the FDNY after it began accepting women for the first time. She was among 41 women sworn in as the department’s first female probationary firefighters in September 1982. Her son Matthew Fiorito followed in his mothers footsteps joining the FDNY since 2018 and now works for the FDNY in Ladder 103. He was assigned to Proby school in late 1967 and assigned to Engine 302 in January 1968. He transferred to newly formed 2nd section, Ladder 103-2 in August 1968. He worked there until they were disbanded in 1974. He then transferred to Engine 328 until the fiscal crisis in 1975/76. He transferred to 96 Engine in the Bronx in 1976 for about a year before going across the floor to 54 truck where he worked for the remainder of his career retiring in 1989.
