REVISED Episode 90: The History of Italy with Marco Cappelli

REVISED Episode 90: The History of Italy with Marco Cappelli

Episode 90: The History of Italy with Marco Cappelli

Description: I am really excited for today’s conversation with Marco Cappelli of the Storia d’Italia podcast. Marco’s podcast is a history of Italy, but in the Italian language. Our conversation is in English today as I don’t speak Italian, but Marco speaks excellent English. As you well know, I have a hard enough time in English as it is! Our conversation today is a wrap up of many of the topics we’ve discussed in the History of the Papacy Podcast. I think this is an excellent episode for the first episode of the year 2020. We get to look back at the topics we’ve talked about in the podcast, but with someone who can give us an on the ground perspective, an Italian perspective on the important events where Papal and Italian history intersected.

Episode 89: A Very Cadaver Synod Christmas

Description: What is a better way to ring in the season of celebration than talking about the Cadaver Synod. This is a very low time in the papacy were the dead body of a pope was posthumously put on trial for various crimes and misdemeanors. Max Gulker AIER has come on to help us figure out how this could happen and bring some holiday cheer!

    ST 78 – Daniel, What a Proto-Revelation!

    ST 78 – Daniel, What a Proto-Revelation!

    ST 78 – Daniel, What a Proto-Revelation!

Description: Garry and I are at it again. We take a look at one of the most iconic books of the bible, the Book of Daniel. The early Christians loved it, Jews not as much, but still included it in their canon. Today, Garry leads us on a deep dive into the Book of Daniel. We explore the context and background of the book and have a laugh or two. I think you will really enjoy this collaboration between the History of the Bible and the History of the Papacy podcast. If you have ideas for Garry and I on future collaborations, we would love to hear them and I hope you enjoy.

Customer Reviews

MutatisMutandis ,

Fascinating history

At first sight, the topic may appear to be of limited interest, something for staunch Catholics and theologians to be interested in. But the history of the papacy is also the history of (early) Christianity, and the debates of that period shaped the world for centuries. Some interest in theology is probably required; but you don't have to be religious to enjoy this history of ideas.
