Impropodden Hjalmar Hardestam

Gareth is an improviser from Dublin, Ireland and is a performer and teacher at The Free Association in London. He can be seen playing on the headline show "JACUZII" and the house Harold team "NANA". Gareth is also the creator of "Fabled: The Improvised Fantasy Adventure".

Gareth and I talk about what to do when the scene "runs out", to be open for epiphanys and the importnace of keeping practicing. We talk about being the best Voice Of Reason that you possible can, innovate don't create and the reason why we have formats. We also talk about shooting sideways, lillypads and the reincorporation Island.

Jason Perez is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Edinburgh International Improv Festival. Jason is a teacher with Will Hines’ WGIS. You can see him perform with Billy Merritt, Julie Brister, Sarah Claspell, and Josh Simpson in The Good Leads in which they perform The Glen.

Me and Jason talks about the four ways of being a better improviser, to learn something new every week and to be okay with your own comedic voice. We talk about Pirate Robot Ninja, game of the scene and the differences between teacher, director and coach. We are also talking about X-men, bank vaults and why you should be pulling out your fellow improvisers legs and shit in their mouths.

Chris Gau is an improviser, writer & director. He co-created Borderline (C5/Netflix US/UK) and The Literary Adventures of Mr. Brown (Radio 4). Chris developed comedy scripts for Guilty Party, Hat Trick, Comedy Central, Big Talk, You + Me & Various Artists and written for Mock The Week. Chris has directed eight shows for the Edinburgh Festival, including An Audience with Yasmine Day (Soho Theatre). He performs with The Wilsons, St Doctor's Hospital & Jacuzii. Me and Chris talks about the importance of playing the expected behavior in a scene, both with specifics and emotions so that the audience have something to relate to. We talk about being vulnerable, improv paradoxes and to catch the wind. We also talk about a lot of nuns, bouncers and to chill the fuck out!

Susan Harrison has been a member of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical for the past twelve years, with whom she performs on the West End and on tour. She is co-founder of BEINGS and These Folk: an improvised folk musical. Susan teaches for Hoopla Improv and loves improvising with playful people.

Me and Susan talk about teaching, the importance of play and to not be precious with your improv scenes. We talk about practicing a principe in another medium, to laugh at yourself and to follow what you love. We are also talking about buttons, bags of net and to wobble the rope.

Chris Mead is an improviser, writer and creative who focus on emotionally-connected, relationship-driven improv. He is lucky enough to teach and perform all over the world. Chris studied theatre at the prestigious Royal Holloway college and continues to explore improv with every school, theatre and practitioner he can find.

Me and Chris talks about making an impact in the scene, to do what feels true and allow yourself to just be on stage. We talk about making deliberate choices for the show, the importance of feeling safe and having a second brain. We are also talking about GTD-systems, Café factories and journeymans.

Robin Wohlin var med och startade improgruppen Alkemisterna i Örebro för sex år sedan. Idag spelar Alkemisterna improviserade föreställningar och musikaler och fyller en av de största scenerna i Örebro varje månad. Robin älskar att vara i ett rum fullt med kreativa människor som skapar något tillsammans vilket också har lett till att han varit med i sketchprogram i P3, musikaler, revyer och skräckvandringar.

Vi pratar bland annat om Robins improhistoria, hur en kan träna impro själv, improlivet i Örebro. Vi pratar om att drömma stort, bygga från grunden och att vara öppen för feedback. Dessutom så pratar vi om att göra guld, spex och att fira din första hater.
