John in Bridgewater, New Jersey called in with a tip for other listeners.John said: "I wanted to call up and get everybody to start using a password manager. I personally use Bitwarden, but I really don't care which one people use as long as it it's secure and hasn't been hacked recently. I won't mention names. Bitwarden is free to use. It is open source. if you want to support them, $10 a year gets you a lot more features. But you don't have to. And I finally converted my entire family to using this. Thank goodness no more crazy short ABC 123 passwords. We're using 20 character passwords everywhere we go, and I know they're never going to get hacked. So even if they get stolen as they will be because all these companies are getting breached, there's no way that they're going to be able to decrypt my 20 character or more password. So definitely recommend people to use a password manager. This is 2024. This is not 1999. You have to stop using a little notebook and reusing the same password over and over. Don't do it. Anyway, keep up the show. Love hearing you guys. And, looking forward to seeing what's coming up next."Thank you, John!

Peter in Wilmington, Delaware asked: "My Dell OptiPlex 7010 runs Windows 10 but I'm told it will not run Windows 11 unless I take it to my local computer store and they do something to it. After which, it will supposedly run Windows 11. What is it that they are going to do to it so it can run Windows 11?"Peter, that would be a good question to ask whoever referred you to the computer shop because it sounds a little suspicious. Our best guess is that it may be RAM, Windows 11 minimum specs require more RAM than Windows 10, and thats an upgrade that you could get at a shop.Windows 10 also requires more storage space, so they could be swapping out your current drive for a larger SSD or HDD, though that seems less likely since you probably had more than the minimum 64GB required already.Windows 11 also requires a DirectX12 compatible graphics card, since the OptiPlex 7010 is a desktop theres a chance they could be adding one.Windows 11 is not hugely demanding, the majority of Windows 10 computers could be upgraded to Windows 11, so the changes may be minor, but it may be worth clarifying what they are and whether theyre really necessary and worth the investment before you spend any money.

Sallie in Carey, North Carolina called in to help other listenersSally said: "I had a printer that used to have an OCR program with it and my current printer doesn't and I haven't accessed that feature in quite a while. Then I discovered online that there's an online OCR program for free, it's called OnlineOCR.net. It can convert either an image or a PDF to Word or Excel. So you can scan a picture of some text - like from a magazine article you want to save and it does a nice job of converting that into text. So I thought listeners might like to know about it."Thank you, Sally!

Jordan in Orlando, Florida asked: "I'm looking for ways to expand my listeners' experience - my audience's experience. Right now I'm experimenting with a platform called Ditto. I was wondering if you know anything about it or if you know any other platforms that I should look into."Jordan, were not familiar with Ditto and there seem to be quite a few platforms by that name ranging from music distribution and streaming, to podcast transcription, to learning for young children. The most popular seems to be Ditto Music, if thats the one youre using the biggest draw seems to be that you get to keep all of your royalties, their streaming app is likely very low traffic but as long as theyre distributing to other sources you may still benefit from their policy on revenue share.Having said that, were not sure if that is the platform you mean and there are lots and lots of Dittos out there. If you can tell us which one youre using and what kind of audio youre putting out wed be glad to dig deeper for you and see if we can find any alternatives that may be worth considering.

Cameron in Hattiesburg, Mississippi asked: "I was wondering what you would recommend for the best wireless charger device."

Cameron, the best charger will depend on what phone you have.

A small consideration will be MagSafe if you have an iPhone. MagSafe chargers can hold the iPhone in place, which means that youll find some chargers that will put the phone at eye level, or hold it tighter but allow you to reposition the phone.

Its not a huge advantage, its just an option. If youre interested in MagSafe (and your phone is an iPhone 12 or newer), then you can obviously look at Apples own chargers, but there are also plenty of other options. For example, Anker sells a 2 in one charger for an iPhone and an Apple Watch for about $40.

The main thing that will determine which charger is best for you is the power of the charger and the power that your phone can take advantage of. For example, if your phone can use it, a 20w charger will charge your phone faster than a 10w charger.

The difference in prices based on wattage will be less than the difference based on brands. For example, a 10w Belkin charger is going for around $35 right now, as are Apples own MagSafe chargers online, while a generic two-pack from YooTech is selling for $25, and a generic 20w charger is selling for $14.

The technology behind all of the chargers is standard, so you can go with a cheaper option and it will work, but it may not deliver the power its supposed to deliver or it may not come with a power adapter, or may come with one rated for less power, so paying a little extra for a brand name may actually help you out in this case.

Joe in Hazleton, Pennsylvania asked: "I'd like to copy just part of an e-mail into a folder. How can I do that. And the other question is... Is it possible to totally delete yourself from the Internet as if you've never been there, and go back to an analog world? I don't think you can. It's just a curiosity question. Should promote some interesting conversation."

Joe, when it comes to storing just part of the email, the only real option you have is to paste the part you want into a different document and save that document in the folder. Theres no out of the box option to save a part of an email.

macOS does allow you to drag a partial clipping to a folder, which is useful when you want to save something partial to copy and paste later, but it wouldnt be a great choice for long term storage either.

When it comes to being off the internet, no realistically you cant remove yourself from the internet. Not only is it unavoidable in day to day life these days, but you will also be added to the internet by others, whether it be by people on social media, or by the governments voter registration records, or real estate records, or by private companies that will try to sell your profile to others for sales purposes, or in a thousand other ways.

Theres not a lot you can do in the modern world to get away from it, you can just minimize how much it intrudes into your life.
