    The Lord's Supper: Betrayal

    David was betrayed by family and friends. The people he served were the same ones trying to sell him into the hands of his mortal enemy. Yet, he did not stop doing good and looking to God. This example might look impossible to us until we consider Jesus. The Greater David walked through betrayal far worse than David. And He continued to entrust Himself to Him who judges justly. In doing so, He made a way for us to be right with God forever, even when our responses to betrayal fall far short of His.

    Entering a dark room from a sunny day can leave you blind for a few moments until your eyes adjust. As they do, you might begin to see things you missed when you first came in. Sometimes our understanding of God is like this. We cannot see what, or Who, is right in front of us. Genesis is a book that declares God is There. And it trumpets that argument from the very first verses. By pondering the implications of this we can start to see there is a Being we need to deal with

    Can you answer this question? What is a church? Much like trying to answer questions like 'What is love?' Or, 'what is music?', we might find we think we know what something is until we go to explain it. In this sermon, we seek to answer that question as plainly and helpfully as we can. In so doing, we hope every Christian will love their local church more than ever and be committed to truly “ekklesiate” as much as possible.
