I can't tell you how excited I am that Will III and my daughter-in-love, Amy, are close to expecting the newest addition to their family. We're on baby watch - ready to help whenever the time comes. There are two verses that we've prayed over all the grand babies in our family, and I couldn't think of a better time to share a prayer based on both for a new baby in your life. Whether you’re a grandmother, aunt, cousin or friend – new babies need our prayers.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. - Matthew 22:37

There has been more than one night in my life where I've found myself wide awake with worry, fear, or just whirling thoughts. It made me wonder if you've ever had a night where you just can't seem to stop the noise in your head, too.
In moments of sleeplessness, I've found myself turning to two different verses in the book of Psalms, and I wanted to share a prayer with you that speaks to both of them. I hope it helps to quiet your soul.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
- Psalm 4:8
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.
- Psalm 42:8

What do you do when you don’t know what to do? It can be frustrating. And confusing. But what would it feel like if you could simply ask for direction and then trust that you’d know the right thing to do? Think if you could only … ask, trust and then settle in.
For me, asking God for something can be easy. But, trusting and then also settling with what I’m given? make me feel like I’m being tossed in waves. Maybe you too? Here is a prayer for uncertain times based on James 1:5-6.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
– James 1:5-6

This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine!
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells us to let our light shine. Now, I don't know about you but sometimes I can get a little nervous when I'm given a chance to talk about God. What if I say the wrong thing? What if I stumble over my words? What if, what if, what if...? In this podcast episode, I wanted to share a prayer with you for courage to share your story and let God's light shine through you. 

You're here to be a light. God is not a secret to be kept. - Matthew 5:16 (The Message)

In my life, I’ve prayed and asked God for certain outcomes and it feels like nothing is happening. There have been days that I’ve waited patiently and there have been others when I’ve felt discouraged while waiting to see God move. Maybe you too? I wrote a prayer for those ‘other times’ when we need more power to keeping holding on.
 
I hope this prayer encourages you in knowing that God will make all things beautiful (just like those Texas wildflowers) slowly, steadily, surely, and right on time.
 
He has made everything beautiful in its time. – Ecclesiastes 3:11

This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
That’s my dad’s favorite verse. He would quote it all the time. Throughout my life he encouraged me to look for the positive and really believe that, “This is the day the Lord has made” and to rejoice and be glad. He taught me to squeeze the goodness out of each and every day and to be joyful!
In this episode, I turn that verse into a prayer for daily joy. Pray with me. :)
