Chill Out!: Valarie Tutuh on the Magical Act of Balancing a Career Ambitions and Taking a Break; Independence and Accepting Support; Serving Others and Taking Care of Yourself

Account Manager at a leading pharmaceutical company and owner of a boutique, Valarie Tutuh shares her incredible professional journey which involved counseling and owning an executive protection agency – all while raising two children by herself. Watching her mom's life of service and care for others, Valarie decided to do things differently and follow a professional path. What she wished she knew: you don't have to do everythign by yorself. Valarie shares lessons she learned from her American mom Emma: to be independent and able to take care of yourself and your children; to invest into education and learn from life-lessons;  that success comes from serving others; but also that you don’t have to do it all and that it’s OK to let other people help carry the load.

Celebrate Every Day: Lara Johnson on Giving Yourself Credit; Showing Up; Forgiving Flaws and Improving with Each Generation; and Following Your Dreams

A mom of four, life coach and host of “Mom on Purpose” podcast, Lara Johnson, talks about the non-profit she co-founded to help young terminally ill parents, and about her work with coaching mothers in which she teaches the most important lesson: to avoid the state of not-enoughness by celebrating your daily small achievements. She tells us about her mom Valerie who had five children but managed to pursue her careers as a nurse, and later a flight-attendant. We learn from Valerie to appreciate previous generations and forgive their flaws and continue improving with each generation; to have a sense of humor; to always show up; to follow your dreams; and most importantly: that being a good mother does not mean being a stay-at-home mom.

Saying No: Adela Mehić-Džanić on Being Independent; Marriage as a Partnership; Being Stoic; and Acting Against Domestic Violence

Telecom engineer Adela Mehić-Džanić talks about her Bosnian mom Fadila who passed away during the Bosnian war in 1993. In spite of losing her at only seven years old, Adela learned many important lessons from her mother: how vitally important it is for women to be financially independent; that a marriage should be a partnership; that we must act against domestic violence; that women need support to leave abusive relationships; but mostly to be stoic and not complain about challenges life serves us.
