    Ep. 36 - What is CBT?

    Welcome to the final episode of season 2 of All the Therapies! A huge thanks to everyone who has tuned in! We've saved the best for last... CBT!  Cognitive Behavior Therapy (or CBT for short) is one of the most recognizable forms of therapy, but how does it work exactly?     Ep. 36 - What is Reiki?

    In this episode, we got curious about an alternative therapy called Reiki. With so many places offering this healing modality, we wanted to try it out, get a clear definition for it, and see what happens! We interview Reiki Rae about her practice and Abby shares her experience getting Reiki. If you have seen this word around but don't know much about it, definitely listen in as we explore it!     Ep. 35 - What is Virtual Reality Therapy?

    Let’s meet in the metaverse! In this week’s episode we embark into a new therapy frontier: virtual reality. We’ll hear Mona’s experience trying VR Therapy and what it was like to engage with a therapist in a non-traditional “location.” Mona and Abby then interview the practitioner, Dr. Jessica Stone who is at the precipice of utilizing VR technology in therapy. Dr. Stone discusses the ethics of technology in therapy, the benefits, and the many ways she’s used it with clients. This is a fun one so definitely stay tuned!     Ep. 34 - What is the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM)?

    Have you been curious about how to address a complex trauma in your life or how to break a difficult pattern? NARM is a therapy that uses the science of attachment to help treat trauma symptoms and lifelong relationship patterns. In this episode, Mona has a session of NARM therapy and discusses how it was different than other therapies she has experienced and her own rapid resolution of a traumatic memory in the session! Tune in as Abby shares her experience meeting with Caitlin Olsen for a standalone 90-minute “Mental Health Check Up.” We then hear from Caitlin about how she came to find the value in a one time check-in with a mental health professional and who can benefit from it. Finally Caitlin describes her niche working with progressive Mormon women and Abby and Mona have a very enlightening conversation about the evolution of religion in conjunction to the evolution of healing. I live in Northern California, where my Air Force Major husband and I are raising our three young children. After earning a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from UNLV, I worked in private practice for years, then expanded my business into coaching. I closed my therapy practice at the end of 2021 after my coaching practice took off. I love using everything I learned from my years as a therapist to coach people all across the country.     Ep. 32 - What Are Ways I Can Heal and Improve My Sex Life?

    Are you comfortable talking about sex? Is sex an area of life that works well for you or do you struggle with pain, past trauma, and insecurity in relationships? You are not alone! Due to a lack of meaningful education about sex and our bodies, most of us have some sexual hang-ups or feelings of dysfunction. In today's episode, Mona shares her experiences working with Irene Morning, a trained yoga therapist and somatic (def: body-based) pleasure coach to work on becoming more comfortable with talking about sex and becoming more embodied. We then interview Irene about her practice and belief in working with people on experiencing more pleasure in their lives, whether that is within their sex lives or just within life in general. This conversation with Irene was one of my favorites! Definitely check this one out!     Ep. 30 - What is Couples Therapy Like?

    Have you ever thought about going to couples therapy with your partner but worried what might come of it or if your problems are "bad enough" to warrant it. If so, check out this week's episode of All The Therapies, as Mona describes her couples therapy with her partner. Then we interview Gottman trained couples therapist John Berndt and hear about how and why couples therapy helps our relationships.  John Berndt Bio:  John is a native Southern Californian, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He decided to become a therapist while working as a missionary in South Africa when he was nineteen, and realized he loved helping others. Working concurrently in local government as he went to school at Pacific Oaks College, John started his training at the Los Angeles LGBT Center and finished his internship at the Southern California Counseling Center. Once licensed and then retiring from government work, John started a private practice in Los Angeles and became the Clinical Director of the Southern California Counseling Center. Helping the SCCC community move through the pandemic is one of John’s most satisfying accomplishments. Now focusing on his private practice, John truly enjoys helping couples move from argumentative and problematic communication patterns toward more considerate, constructive, and collaborative conversations. He has completed Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which he uses along with elements of Esther Perel’s work, while employing an overall attachment theory lens to help couples uncover their underlying emotions and change their communication and relational dynamics. He also enjoys helping individuals live more true to who they are. He lives in Los Angeles with his amazing partner, two lively dogs, and one stubborn cat.
