Our mission is to lead people to become Christ-centered disciples. Capital’s services offer a comfortable environment that welcomes folks just beginning to explore and discover God, as well as those believers that are centered in God and ready to be challenged to dive deeper into His truth. Our community is encouraged to own their faith, partner with others and invest themselves in the church, community and world. We aim to be a life-giving place where adults, youth, and kids seek, above all else, to Love God and Love Others.

    Do It Again

    Do It Again

Looking at old photos can unleash a tidal wave of details of what were, until that moment, forgotten memories. We remember why were in that location, who all went with us and who we met when we were there, the smells that surrounded us, the emotions inside of us, and so many other details that our hearts become overwhelmed in the cognitive flood.

When the photo captures a good memory, it sparks a desire to be with those people in that place all over again. We want to relive the joy and peace and hope that defined that moment. Especially when we lack joy and peace and hope in the present one.

This week in The Life and Lyrics of David, we’ll look at a psalm that hands us a blueprint for how to leverage memories of God’s goodness in the past to cultivate hope in his promise to cover us in his goodness all the days of our lives.

    As We Wait

    As We Wait

If your child complains that the neighbor's bought their kid a car, you can remind them, "You're only nine years old."

If your employee criticizes you because you still haven't launched their idea into the market place, you might tell them, "We just secured funding for the business."

If your roommate calls you a tyrant because you keep telling them to turn their music down, you can point out the fact, "It's 3 AM."

Timing is everything. And trusting the timing of those who understand the full scope of the situation will save you a lot of stress and anxiety.

This week in The Life and Lyrics of David, we're invited to reflect on the perfection of God's timing and how we can trust that he sees everything we don't.

    Love is Lopsided

    Love is Lopsided

Research shows women and men both consider symmetrical faces beautiful and attractive. They prefer romantic partners with symmetrical faces, and they’re more inclined to develop personal and professional friendships with those with symmetrical faces as well. So, most people prefer to engage with those who have symmetrical bodies. Yet, there is one thing we all desire, even need, to be embodied in asymmetrical ways: Love. We don’t want balanced love. We want love unleashed, love unhinged, love unrestricted and overflowing. We need unbalanced, asymmetrical love most in the moments we deserve it least. This week in The Life and Lyrics of David, we see Israel’s future King – and Israel’s true King, Jesus! – pouring out love in unfair, asymmetrical ways that we are called to embody in our relationships today.

    Love Back

    Love Back

Your co-worker lashes out. Your friend stops responding to texts. Your dentist couldn’t be less gentle. Your parent couldn’t be more critical. All of these hurt. But we have to choose: will our response come out of a heart filled with hurt or a heart filled with compassion, grace, a slowness to anger, and most of all, love? This week in The Life and Lyrics of David, we examine David responding to two different situations in two dramatically different ways, asking God to show us what we can learn about love from this flawed, yet teachable leader.
