Today we’re going to be taking a look at one of the most beloved, innocent, and selfless characters of the entire series- Dobby. 

Dobby the big hearted House Elf makes his first appearance in the Chamber of Secrets- when he enters the home of #4 privet drive at perhaps the worst moment imaginable- the same day that Vernon Dursley, Harry's terrible uncle, is having a very important business dinner.

Dobby did, however, act with good intentions, and from this moment onwards he continued to win over our hearts with each subsequent appearance. He brought so much to the series with hilarious lines, helped our hero through his journey, and is one of the most loyal and honest characters in the series. 

HOWEVER, despite being a fan favorite, Dobby was severely underrepresented in the films, and actually had a much larger presence in the books.

The First major Wizarding War in the Harry Potter universe was a catastrophic period in wizarding history that lasted a whopping 11 years. The war started when Voldemort, obsessed with pure-blood supremacy, sought to overthrow the existing magical order and establish himself as the ruler of both the wizarding and non-magical worlds.

The war officially ended on October 31, 1981, when Voldemort's curse to kill the infant Harry Potter rebounded upon him, destroying his physical form and rendering him powerless.

And the aftermath of this decade long conflict left deep scars on the wizarding world. Families were torn apart, and many prominent witches and wizards lost their lives. The wizarding world was in shambles.

But as far as the 7 books are concerned, the primary focus is on the SECOND Wizarding War, a conflict that only lasted 3 years.

Wands are a crucial and commonly discussed aspect of the Harry Potter series. They serve as the tool that allow witches and wizards to channel and harness their magical abilities.  

And throughout the series, the significance of wands is highlighted through the emphasis on wandlore, the notion of wand ownership, and the pivotal role wands play in duels and magical combat. 

But for some reason…GOBLINS aren’t allowed to use them.

Goblins are given full control of the financial system, they’re MORE than magically capable, and they’re arguably MORE intelligent than wizardkind.

But under the current Ministry of Magic's control, goblins are STILL prohibited from using or owning wands, under the severe consequence of a life sentence in Azkaban prison. 

So, what’s the deal? Why are goblins forbidden from owning wands? How powerful could they become if they DID possess wands? And what underlying tensions exist between the goblin race and wizards?

The Force in Star Wars is just Harry under an Invisibility Cloak. The Ford Anglia is Arthur Weasley’s Horcrux. Gandalf and Dumbledore are the same wizard. Harry Potter, Breaking Bad, Spongebob and REAL life all exist in the same universe. Lord Voldemort is a Pokemon.

These are just a handful of the absurd theories I’ve seen posted online, and for the most part I try to center this channel around ‘good’ theories. At least, that’s the goal.

But for today, I thought I’d dive deep in to the worst of the worst and peel back the layers of some the ABSOLUTE worst Harry Potter theories out there. This list is full of GOLD and some of them are pretty hilarious, so join me as we examine the dregs of the theorydom.

The Fantastic Beasts films left us on a MASSIVE cliffhanger. The Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald is STILL at large and the movies just…ENDED?

Fortunately for us, we know how his story plays out, and we can attribute that to established Harry Potter lore.

The 3 Unforgivable Curses: Imperio, Crucio and Avada Kedavra, are tremendously dangerous.  

But why are THESE 3 spells in particular deemed UNFORGIVABLE when so many others aren’t? I mean, I’d argue that there are worse spells out there that are MORE deserving of this title.
