Christian Interviews striving to articulate, explore, and realize Christian life

34: Kyle from BTF November 2023

34: Kyle from BTF November 2023

My next guest is Kyle, founder and Executive Director at Bible Translation Fellowship. BTF aims to integrate Bible translation with the mission of the church. In doing this, it does so through advocacy, mentoring, networking, and translation consulting.  Kyle also lives in the western cape of South Africa with his wife, Hannah, and their dog.

In talking with Kyle, I was struck by the passion that God has instilled in him throughout his journey of faith. Additionally I was really encouraged by his thoughtful, principled, and earnest approach to see the word of God go out to all peoples. The Bible translation world is one I’m quite ignorant of, and this conversation was revelatory for me.

I hope you find it encouraging as well. If you want more info, you can visit BTF’s website at Bibletranslationfellowship.org

    Thanks for listening!

    33: Rusty McKie May 2023

    33: Rusty McKie May 2023

My next guest is Rusty McKie who is a spiritual director, host of the Art of Stability podcast, founder of Steadfast Ministries, and the author of a book called Sabbaticals. He’s currently working on book also called The Art of Stability.

This conversation was informative for me as I didn’t know much about spiritual direction. It was also refreshing as we discussed certain elements of the Christian experience to which I had not put much thought or articulation. Like how do we define or experience intimacy with God or rest?

I didn’t even get to all my questions! But, there is only so much time; I hope you find this conversation as engaging as I did!

    Thanks for listening!

    32: Max Mooney January 2023

    32: Max Mooney January 2023

My next guest is Max Mooney, a friend from church and a coffee friend. He owns Narrative Coffee which has locations in Everett and Bellingham, WA. Max is an incredibly smart and capable guy with a unique story of faith. I’m struck not only by his intellect, but also his clarity and the intentionality with which he uses those things to serve and see God. In our conversation, Max shares how he came to faith, how he got into coffee and why coffee matters. Yes, we also talk a lot about coffee, and yes, it gets nerdy, but not snobbish.

Alright, sit down, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the conversation. Thanks for listening!

    31: Thomas Hodzi November 2022

    31: Thomas Hodzi November 2022

My next guest is Thomas Hodzi, who along with his sister, Ruth are the driving force behind Christ of First Importance Ministries. Thomas and his family are dedicated to strengthening churches, planting churches, and caring for vulnerable children in Zimbabwe, his home country. I was struck by Thomas’ patient approach to training pastors and building infrastructure to faithfully fortify God-honoring churches in Zimbabwe, especially the more remote villages. Thomas’ care for the people of Zimbabwe is deep and sincere, and the testimony of faith that God is writing in his life was a great encouragement to me!

One note: this episode is not broken up, since most podcast players allow you to pause and restart where you left off. Hopefully the episode length isn’t too intimidating–AND hopefully it still listens well at faster playback speeds!

Alright, onto the conversation. Thanks for listening!
