The resurrection is intimately connected to our justification



Rom 4:22-5:5

22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

We live in the most individualistic society on earth and so desperately need to learn the basics of life together; a community of love, a community of hospitality, a community of ministry.

1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

There are a thousand voices seeking to form us into their image, but the teacher we most need to listen to and become like is Jesus of Nazareth.

Luke 9: 23Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

The church is the community of faith, which means its a community of worship, a community of God-seekers, seeking God together.



Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

How can we practice our quieting our ambitions and anxieties and learn to rest in the love of the Father?

How does the faithfulness of God undergird the faithfulness of the church? How do the ordinary means of grace promote Christian holiness?
