    Acolyte Review

The controversial latest entry in the Star Wars TV lore finally premiered on Disney+. how did the first two episodes fare?

Disclaimer: Don’t let me be the downer if you like this show.

    2:30 – Quick thoughts

If you watched this show to have fun, you probably had fun, If you watched it for a well-written story…

    What I liked

    * The overall scale of the show as opposed to the micro-universe of the other shows

    * The pacing and the camera work fit with SW

    * The variety of aliens was top-notch.

    What I didn’t like

    * There are several logical holes

    * The characters are terrible at their jobs

    * The Jedi are made to look like morons

    5:00 – The Episodes

    Written review for Episode 1

    Written review for Episode 2

17:25 – What Does This Mean?

According to EU/Legends canon, Darth Plagueis would be a teenager around this time. His master, Darth Tenebrous, could be the Sith Lord in question, but it most likely is Darth Tenbrous’s maser, who we never got an official name for.

Of course, the show may not acknowledge the EU and have an entirely new character as the villain,

We’ll get the inevitable switcheroo between Mae and Osha because nobody seems suspicious that these two allegedly estranged twins have exactly the same look, build, and hairdo right down to the same highlights.

    X-Men '97 Wrap-Up

    X-Men '97 Wrap-Up

We’ve talked a TON of Star Wars lately, so we’ll concentrate on the season finale of X-Men ’97.

    1:00 X-Men ’97 Season Finale

X-Men ’97 wrapped up a 10-episode season with its three-part “Tolerance is Extinction” episode. We look at the story and where things stand with the finale.

12:45 What Is Up For Season Two

The next question is what could we be in store for in Season Two? It looks like we’ll not only get a tie-in to The MCU, but we could also see an animated adaption of Age of Apocalypse and the animated debut of a Marvel villain we haven’t seen since the 1990s.

90% Star Wars All The Time

90% Star Wars All The Time

It’s a (mostly) all-Star Wars show since we’re coming off May The 4th. But we’ll talk a little Free Comic Book Day swag…

    1:15 – New Acolyte Trailer

Here are some screencaps from the trailer. Who could the Sith Lord be? We’ll go over a few things we know from what The Jedi said about The Sith during The Phantom Menace. And yes, this COULD be one of the other characters in disguise.

    A Force-user scoops up a dead Jedi’s lightsaber

    Jecki Lon in training

Jedi Master Sol searching the allies

    Jail cells? Detainment areas?

Climbing one of the stone towers. Acht-To perhaps?

    Indara faces Mae, the assassin

The assassin tries to kill a Jedi with THROWING KNIVES

Indara shatters the knifes with her lightsaber

    Mae attacking another Jedi

A broken saber in the dirt

Are these the Acolytes in question

A young Sol with his student, Mae

A ship that can split in two

Could this be the villain in disguise?

Another look at the group of acolytes

    Approaching a Jedi on Ach-To

A ship flying through the rings of a planet

The Fellowship on their mission to Mordor… OOPS, wrong franchise…

A ship plummeting through the rings of a planet

    Mae trying to kill Jecki

The villain with a red lightsaber.

Is this a Sith Lord? Darth Goomba?

14:20 – Tales of the Empire

Tales of the Empire was two separate three-part stories. One was Morgan Elsbeth’s origin while the other was Barriss Offee’s fate

    15:10 – Morgan Elsbeth

If you’re familiar with The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, then these episodes filled in some major background. We finally understand the loyalty Morgan had to Thrawn. It was hard to take their allegiance so seriously when we’re only given one verbal exchange between her and Ahsoka.

The animation was excellent, as usual. This also felt much darker than The Clone Wars, and even many episodes of The Bad Batch. Probably because we knew the story had no happy ending.

May The 4th Be With You

May 4th is the “Official/Unofficial Star Wars Day. We celebrate this geek holiday by looking back on past episodes about it.

    1:30 – May The 4th, 2019

This was the last time May 4th fell on Free Comic Book Day and it’s also the year we lost the late great Peter Mayhew

C2E2 Thoughts, Bad Batch Finale, and X-Men '97 Ep 8

C2E2 Thoughts, Bad Batch Finale, and X-Men '97 Ep 8

Our esteemed Mayor attended C2E2 this past weekend. Plus, the SERIES FINALE of The Bad Batch and the regularly scheduled review of X-Men ’97!

    1:05 – C2E2

I finally attended a con for the first time in four years. I couldn’t spend nearly as much as I did in the past, just being around all that stuff again was stimulating. I’ve always been a fan of cosplay, and I’ve always enjoyed the panels. I’ll post pictures and videos from the Cosplay Championship to social media shortly.

7:00 – The Bad Batch Series Finale

There’s been varying praise for The Bad Batch series finale, but I loved it. Were there things that could have been better? Sure, but it covered all the bases and set something up that can be played out with an adult Omega.

    14:05 – X-Men ’97 Episode 8 “Tolerance is Extinction Part 1”

We enter the season’s final act with Bastion in full supervillain mode! Plus, We enter the season’s final act with Bastion in full supervillain mode! Plus, we get a ton more cameos from other Marvel heroes and villains.

"LFG" with Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer, X-Men '97, and The Bad Batch reviews

"LFG" with Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer, X-Men '97, and The Bad Batch reviews

We got a red-band Deadpool and Wolverine trailer and our usual looks at The Bad Batch and X-Men ’97!

0:50 – Deadpool and Wolverine Trailer

We first see Wolverine in (where else) a bar

Deadpool interrupts Wolverine in perfect Deadpool fashion

Another view of The Void scene we got in the previous trailer, complete with another look at the 20th Century Fox logo

A scene we’ve all waited decades for, HUGH JACKMAN IN COSTUME!

Could this be a row of tombstones like in Days of Future Passed? Or a border of some kind?

This is likely a dead variant of Wolverine because Paradox refers to him as “This Wolverine…”

Deadpool responds with low blows… or shots… of his own

The obligatory slow motion walk through a backdrop of destruction

Deadpool displays a Hard R level violence we’ve come to expect from a Deadpool movie

More of the initial throwdown between the two anti-heroes. Deadpool now uses the adamantium katanas we saw him get in the last trailer

Deadpool getting thrown (or punched) out of an SUV

Emma Corrin as the villain Cassandra Nova

The villains’ base appears to be inside the carcass of a dead Giant-Man variant.

The car from Captain America: The First Avenger

Wolverine gargles Jack Daniels because of course he does

This Mad Max tribute uses motorcycles from previous MCU movies

Cassandra Nova can forcibly control Wolverine’s actions, making him stab himself

Wolverine uttering “Let’s F***ing Go!” the tagline of the movie

The two frenemies jump through a portal to end the trailer

We know from the first trailer that The TVA sent a retired Deadpool to correct the timeline. Deadpool sees Wolverine’s corpse during this initial meeting. Given the rumors that Marvel’s Phase 6 will culminate with characters from the multi-verse, this variant may be destined to be in that final battle, which is why Deadpool has to grab him in the first place.

    8:00 – X-Men ’97

I know I’ve said it often, but there is a lot of stuff on this show that wouldn’t have made the airwaves in the 1990s. Murder by suffocation is another one. Heck, even a funeral was probably too dark for Saturday morning TV.

We got a lot of hints and Easter eggs as well. Cameos from Captain America and General Thunderbolt Ross, a mention of The Hulk, and a hint at The Avengers. Having Bastion as the surprise villain is a very good twist since most of the attention was given to Sinister.

16:45 – The Bad Batch “Fast Strike”

What the heck are these boxes for?
