NALC's 2016 National Heroes of the Year awards ceremony was held in Washington, DC, on Sept. 21. NALC President Fredric Rolando served as master of ceremonies, introducing letter carriers from Syracuse, NY Branch 134 (Branch Service Award); Patrick Byrne of Lynn, MA Branch 7 (Education Award); Evangeline Johnson of Detroit Branch 1 (Carrier Alert Award); David Crestik of San Diego Branch 70 (Western Region Hero); Michael Murphy of Hazelwood, MO Branch 5847 (Central Region Hero); Lars Edleblute of York, PA Branch 509 (Eastern Region Hero); Brad Gentz of Mason City, IA Branch 471 (Humanitarian of the Year); and Mark Pizzo of Rock Hill, SC Branch 1003 (National Hero of the Year).
