Seek mutually beneficial outcomes in all interactions. 
If a mutually beneficial solution cannot be reached, it is better to agree on "No Deal" rather than resorting to a win-lose scenario. 
Language plays an important role; use inclusive and collaborative language that emphasizes cooperation, understanding, and mutually beneficial solutions.
 
HABIT 5: Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood
Effective communication and empathetic listening is important to build strong relationships and resolve conflicts.
Minimize autobiographical responses and instead focus on empathetic responses to understand a person's unique perspective.
Listen with intent to understand, suspend judgment, reflect back and validate and express your own perspective.
