Every single judge (trial court judges, appellate court judges, state court judges, and federal court judges) who has ruled on the various gag orders placed on defendant Donald Trump, has ruled that the orders were appropriate, lawful, and constitutional. Indeed, New York's highest court has refused to take up Trump's appeal on the gag order issue. But alas, Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon is about to step to the plate and take a swing at the narrow gag order Special Counsel Jack Smith has requested in Trump's Florida prosecution. On another important front, a retired judge who served on the federal bench for 27 years, just gave an interview to NPR and opined that Judge Cannon has shown "favoritism" toward defendant Trump and antagonism toward the prosecutors in the case.

As a recent USA Today article makes clear: "As a convicted felon, Trump isn't fit to lead America's military as Commander in Chief". Convicted felons are generally not permitted to serve in the armed forces of the United States. It would be an absurdity, not to mention dangerous to the safety of our troops, if a convicted felon were allowed to be the Commander in Chief of America's armed forces. As someone who served more than six years on active duty with the US Army, as all soldiers, Glenn was required to abide by the laws, rules, and well-defined standards of conduct. Here we go again. We've seen this exact nightmare movie before: Donald Trump signaling that he won't accept an election loss and refusing to rule out violence to get whatever he wants. It's like democracy is sitting there - stuck on the tracks and Trump is the dangerous, out-of-control train that refuses to stop. There is a way to derail the Trump train before we see a repeat of the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol. But we need to work together.

It defies comprehension that the person who incited an attack on the United States Capitol building and everyone who was in it on January 6, 2021, performing their constitutional duty of certifying the results of a presidential election, would have the temerity to return to the scene of his crime in hopes that he could regain the reigns of governmental power.

What's worse, congressional Republicans bowed-down to Trump, in their cowardly and unpatriotic determination to get themselves reelected. One of the questions that will haunt our nation for generations to come is: how can there only be two congressional Republicans - Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger - who care more about the health and viability of American democracy than they care about their own reelection prospects? Glenn also asks - when will these OTHER congressional criminals get charged for their part in the January 6th conspiracy?

Donald Trump is claiming that the Department of Justice is being weaponized against Republicans. Glenn says the trial and guilty verdict of Hunter Biden proves otherwise. Note the recent CNN headline: "Hunter Biden conviction shatters Trump's persecution narrative." The way the Republicans and the Democrats have reacted to the Hunter Biden conviction and the Donald Trump conviction tells people everything they need to know about which party respects the rule of law and which party does not. Last week, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony crimes that he committed to try to gain unfair advantage in a presidential election. Throughout the pre-trial proceedings and the trial itself, Trump and his lackeys in Congress endlessly yammered about the trial being a witch hunt. Trump threatened and endangered everyone who was involved in the endeavor of holding him accountable for his crimes: witnesses, jurors, prosecutors and judges.

In stark contrast to Trump's reckless and dangerous behavior, the Hunter Biden case involved NO threats or intimidation of witnesses, jurors, prosecutors or judges, no cries of which hunt, no efforts to undermine the public's perception of the legitimacy of the criminal justice system.

These differences tell you all you need to know about who respects the rule of law and who does not.
