    The one with poetry #2

    The one with poetry #2

This is one from my personal journal (Sage Francis reference 👀 IT UP) collection. I’m not exactly sure when I started writing this one, but know I finished during a time of sobriety. I was the drinker who hid every single plastic pint bottle and shooter in any and every random spot that was convenient. There are even days when I come across a stash of shooters that I never even knew were there, empty of course. This poem reflects the guilt, shame, and fear from knowing they are hidden everywhere, sometimes from my own memory. Yet, like the dead body that moves Edgar Allen Poe’s antagonist in the Tell Tale Heart to madness, so did those bottles. Those bottles remained hidden until I was ready to face my demons. Also a big shout out to Aaron Mahnke and his Lore podcast. My absolute favorite podcast and the one that in inspired me to give it a go. Aaron is one of the great storytellers of our generation, so check him out and subscribe! Episode 10: Steam and Gas explores the devious nature of the serial killer H. H. Holmes. Check out the podcast here http://www.lorepodcast.com. Thank you for being a part of my recovery 🤙🏽

    The one with Ernestina

    The one with Ernestina

Whoa y’all, this very first episode is all over the place as I Introduce to you Ernestina from Argentina 🇦🇷. A fiery señorita who has chosen the sober life. Notable topics include children, cats, guinea pigs, parrots (no this has not become an animal podcast 😂), saying “Um” and “you know” too many times, relationships, sobriety and much more. I plan to have Ernestina back many more times in the future, so get used to it! My apologies for the choppy nature of the talk, I’m still getting my editing feet underneath me. I’m in the newborn giraffe phase still. Also, I promise not to suck that badly at conversing in the future. My nerves 😬 got the best of me 😫. Apologies also for the Anchor plug, but it is a really sweet and easy tool that has helped me create this podcast. Check me out on Reddit at u/KennyBinRecovery, and email me at kennybinrecovery@gmail.com with ANYTHING for the show or just for your own sobriety. Comments are welcome, but don’t be a jerk 🙃 Until next time, stay hopeful and stay beautiful. I’m Kenny B and I’m in recovery 🤙🏽

The very first poem ever on Kenny B in Recovery comes to us from Reddit user transmissionflux and it is called “our secret pact.” A big thank you again to transmissionflux and please send us more!

The one with the quote #1

The one with the quote #1

    * PLEASE LISTEN TO THE VERY END! I realized that maybe I should have put the outro music after the poem 😬 Check back weekly for new inspirational quotes and sayings that you can listen to over and over again as needed. Today’s quote is from the Roman philosopher Seneca. “Sometimes even to live is an act of courage.” My apologies for how melodramatic it sounds when I’m reading the quote, it’s almost borderline cheesy. But no worries I’m trying to connect with Harry Styles to help with reading some in the future. I’ll keep you posted.

The one with the morning prayer

The one with the morning prayer

In recovery, one recognizes that he or she is indeed powerless over drugs and that we are in need of a higher powers assistance in order to achieve sobriety. A morning prayer can help keep one’s thoughts focused on the things that they can and will accomplish today. It helps us to express gratitude and seek guidance on a daily basis. This is a prayer I wrote for myself and use to start my day.

    Kenny B in Recovery

A big shoutout to all my brothers and sisters out there trying to live the sober life. One of the most overwhelming feelings you can have in recovery is feeling alone. Addiction has always had a seemingly irrefutable way of convincing me I am alone. Many times I found myself sitting in my beautiful home, with my beautiful family asleep only feet alway and I felt so alone I would break down into a tidal wave of tears. Some of us are fortunate enough to have close friends or even a sponsor to reach out in these times, but for some it may not be as easy. I created this podcast with the intent on being a quick go to when in need, or even when you just need to hear a friendly voice. I will be creating a library with episodes that address different topics directly with others I have been blessed to meet in my recovery. I will also be including a ton of shorts bits that will range from poems and prayers to quotes of resilience and support. Please hit the subscribe button and take the time to reach out to me directly at kennybinrecovery@gmail.com . I want to hear your story, questions, and advice you may have for others. Let this be another tool in your trendy fanny pack of recovery. So until next time, stay hopeful and stay beautiful! I’m Kenny B and I’m in recovery.
