In Episode 10, I provide an update on Kenya's general election. Also, this past week, South Africa's president, Jacob Zuma survived his 8th no-confidence vote in the country's parliament - I take a look at this development and discuss South Africa's growing concern over the president's close ties to the controversial Gupta family.

In this episode, I share my thoughts on the Rwanda and Kenya elections - the Rwandan people just reelected Paul Kagame to another 7 year term; In Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta (current president) and Raila Odinga (opposition leader) are battling for the presidency and the stakes are high in this year's general election. I also touch on the impact of the Fall Armyworm on Sub-Saharan Africa's agriculture sector.

This episode highlights the impact of the current Gulf crisis (diplomatic row involving Qatar) on the Horn of Africa. I also discuss the unforeseen consequences new U.S. travel restrictions are having on travelers from Majority Muslim countries not included in the travel ban order. Additionally, Ghana launched its first satellite into space this past week - this positive development is discussed. I also highlight incidents that occurred in Niger and Kenya this past week.

Episode 7 looks into the controversial statements made by Tanzania's president regarding his opposition to educating school-age girls who get pregnant and have kids. Additionally, the African and Caribbean Memorial was recently unveiled in London. This memorial is in honor of African and Caribbean soldiers who served in both World Wars - Too Little Too Late or Better Late Than Never? - I share my thoughts on this. Malawi launched Africa's first air corridor to test the use of drones in humanitarian missions - this innovative program is discussed in this episode as well. Lastly, "Africa As We Know It" introduces listeners to Terry Gobanga, a Kenyan woman who has overcome significant adversity and challenges - Amazing Woman!!

Happy Father's Day!
