Arrival: How language shapes our reality
Arrival was unanimously considered as one of the most groundbreaking science-fiction venture in recent memory. Dennis Villeneuve along with writer-duo Eric Heisserer and Ted Chiang, meticulously crafted an alien invasion film which was unapologetically heavier on themes such as the importance of communication, longing and grief. They achieved all of this without a single notable action set piece and Arrival's embracement of subtlety and elusiveness is what made it so profound, thought-provoking and timeless. One such theme that Arrival builds it's foundation on is the importance of communication, and language, over the years has evolved into the most widely accepted and celebrated devices for communication. In this small podcast, I try to explain the importance of language and how the language that we speak ends up shaping our reality.
